14 Reason You Would Be Nowhere In Your Teen Years Without Your Older Sister

As the youngest of three, and having both of my older siblings sisters, I've noticed that I have had some advantages going through high school that people without older sisters just don't have. Luckily, I've listed the top 14 so all the people without older sisters know what they're missing out on. Or so those with older sisters can relate with a sense of satisfaction that only these advantages can provide.

1. They took all the same classes as you when they were in school and can help you with your homework when you’re struggling.

They might be in college, but sending a text with a picture of homework and waiting for an answer will always be faster than trying to do it yourself.

2. Since they took all the same classes, they had all the same teachers, so you automatically have an in with aforementioned teacher.

Even though they’ll always compare you to your older sister, at least they like you right away (unless your sister and said teacher did NOT get along).

3. They also know which classes you should completely avoid in school.

They know what teachers are harsh and which classes are basically free periods.

4. They know how to tell you your outfit is ugly, in the most accurate and least offensive way possible.

It’s okay to tell me I look like a man in that shirt, because I said that to you yesterday…

5. They introduce you to all their friends, naturally making you cooler for knowing “hot older boys.”

Even when you see them as embarrassing older brothers, they do boost your street cred.

6. They have so much to teach you about parties and school dances so you never look like you have no idea what’s going on (even though you might not anyway).

Thank god I know never to dress for themes at school dances but to always dress for themes at parties!

7. They understand boys because they’ve already dealt with all the ones you’re dealing with nowadays.

They can tell from just one text if he’s even worth your time or not.

8. They can get you through breakups because, consequently they’ve been through those before also.

They can explain why he’s doing the childish things he’s doing, even when he can’t give you an explanation himself.

9. They do everything first, and in turn you get to start doing things at the same time as them.

Even though you’re younger the, “But Rachel gets to stay out past midnight!” excuse is always golden.

10. You always have someone to hang out with.

And it’s not even embarrassing to say, “Sorry, I’m getting ice cream with my sister.” It’s even better when you have no one else to hang out with, because they aren’t allowed to be offended that they’re your last option!

11. At every family/holiday gathering you have someone to hang out with and laugh about your crazy relatives with.

And when you get trapped in conversation with that distant relative you probably have a secret signal so they can rescue you.

12. You can have a slumber party pretty much every night.

Just walk a few feet and ask for a nice cuddle.

13. There’s always someone who can make you laugh instantly no matter what.

Trying to teach one another to dab at 1am is pretty effective.

14. You have an ultimate partner-in-crime/super cool role model/best friend no matter what.

Whether she’s across the hall or across the country she’s still the person who understands you more than anyone.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
