As a new school year starts, University of South Florida students are looking for new places to go, either because they just started the wonderful life of a college student, or they're bored with the places they do go. Because of this, I've compiled up a list of places to visit in the Tampa area hoping to help these people find "their place."

1. Busch Gardens

Yes, I know, it costs a whole lot of money to go. However, the USF Student Government is currently working with Busch Gardens to get us a discounted year pass, so don't count out the amusement park just yet.

2. Museum of Science and Industry

MOSI is right across from USF, and a huge hit for people interested in science and history. They also have a ropes course, for you adventurous folks.

3. Lettuce Lake Park

Looking for something cheap and close-by? Love the outdoors? This is the place for you.

4. Adventure Island

We live in Florida. It's hot. The only way to cool ourselves down is with air-conditioning. Or in this case, water. Lots and lots of water.

5. USF's Botanical Gardens

Again, looking for something cheap? Looking for something on-campus? The Botanical Gardens at USF is beautiful AND we get a student discount. $1 entry fee? Count me in.

6. Lowry Park Zoo

For those of you obsessed with animals, I've found the perfect place for you.

7. USF Contemporary Art Museum

Not many universities can say they have their very own art museum on campus. Go take a peek here, it's art like you've never seen before.

8. American Escape Rooms

Love getting a thrill? Like to spend time with friends? Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner.

9. Studio Movie Grill

We all like eating food, but what about eating food while watching a newly released movie?

10. The International Mall

This place requires some traveling as it is about 20-30 minutes away, depending on traffic. However, if you want to eat fancy or go shopping for the best clothes, this is the place to go.

11. The University Mall

Wow. Imagine having a mall named after you. The University Mall is less than 5 minutes away and is where the lovely Studio Move Grill is located. Want to shop for things that are relatively cheap? Here you go.

12. Puppies, Puppies, Puppies!

Now, this is for all you lovers of dogs. Puppies, Puppies, Puppies is a store where you can buy (wait for it) PUPPIES! However, these puppies love to be played with before they find a home, and you, my friend, are the person they want.

13. Ybor City Museum State Park

Interested in learning the history of Ybor? Or fascinated by history in general? Come on down and take a look.

14. Mojo Books and Records

This place is for the quiet people who love to read. Mojo's has stacks and stacks of books and records. Almost like a sanctuary for those who love to read, Mojo's also has a coffee shop inside.

15. The Florida Aquarium

Love the deep sea and all creatures inside it? Check out this 250,000 square feet aquarium, you won't regret it.

16. Clearwater Marine Aquarium

Have you seen the movie Dolphin Tale? Have you ever wondered where the dolphin, Winter, resides? Well, you've found her. Although a little bit out of the Tampa area, this is an experience you won't want to miss out on.

So there you have it. 16 places to go and explore. If there wasn't a place for you on this list, I'm sorry. If there was, ROCK ON! Have a happy last few days of summer. I'll see you soon, Bulls.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
