14 Things Dog People Can Relate To

They're cute, furry, sweet, funny, cuddly and just so lovable! Honestly, how can someone not be a dog person? Dogs truly are a man's (or a girl's) best friend. If you happen to love dogs just as much as I do, here is a list of things that you will find you can relate to.

1. When you see a random dog on the sidewalk, you cannot resist petting it.

I cannot tell you how many conversations I have started with the words, "Oh my goodness, he/she is so cute! Can I pet them?" Dogs: bringing people together one belly scratch at a time.

2. Walking by a pet store without going inside is unthinkable.

I don't recall a time that I have ever walked by a PetCo or a Petland and didn't go inside. I mean, hello, there are puppies in there! You can't just act like the cutest thing the world has to offer isn't inside those doors!

3. You or a friend has to forcibly stop you from bringing home every stray dog you see.

When you are a dog person, seeing a stray dog breaks your heart just as much as seeing a homeless person on the street. The inner struggle you face to not pick the dog up and bring it home is real! That little voice in your head says, One more dog can't hurt, right?

4. Dog fur. Everywhere.

Lint rollers are like your best friend. You keep one on your dresser, in your car, in your purse. On more than one occasion you have looked down at your outfit and realized that you could probably pass for a dog with all the fur on you. Don't even get me started about the horrors of wearing black clothes around dogs. The hair is still a small price to pay for the joys of having a little fur baby! Which brings me to my next point...

5. When you say "my baby" people know you are talking about your dog.

Someone who doesn't know you very well may actually think you have a child because of how much you talk about your "baby." Seriously, this has happened before.

6. If you won the lottery, all shelters and streets would be free of homeless dogs!

Hotel For Dogs? That's about to become a reality, not just a movie.

7. You cannot imagine how anyone could ever harm a dog.

I'm not going to lie, I cannot make it through a single ASPCA commercial without a box of tissues! Really, how could someone hurt such cute and innocent creatures?

8. When someone apologizes for their dog jumping on you...

Don't you dare apologize. This is probably going to be the highlight of my day!

9. You've thought about becoming a vet.

It was your childhood dream. Working with animals all day, especially dogs, sounds more like a privilege! We've all contemplated it once or twice.

10. When someone says they don't like dogs...

Seriously, are you even human?

11. You never have to eat a meal alone.

Your dog is always there. Staring and begging. No matter what you're eating, they want some of it. Or all of it.

12. You have a nickname for your dog.

Or, like, seven. But, hey, they answers to all the names you call them. Then you really just can't help to wonder if your dog has a name for you too. Seriously, do they name us?!

13. Your love is unconditional.

The love you have for your dog, and everyone else's, is never-ending. From the first lick, their paw-print is forever on your heart.

And last, but not least...

14. When someone says they prefer cats...

Why, just why? Also, get away from me, Far, far away. I cannot deal with that type of negativity.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
