If you've been keeping up with the Democratic race for the nomination, then you should know that Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton have MANY differences. Though Clinton is ahead in the delegate count, her overwhelming defeats in Idaho and Utah put Sanders in a better position to close the delegate gap. For you future voters, here is a list of differences that you can use to make your decision on a candidate.
1. Minimum Wage
Bernie Sanders supports a $15 an hour minimum wage, while Hillary Clinton supports a $12 an hour minimum wage.
2. The Iraq War
Sanders voted against the authorization of the Iraq War in 2002 and stands by his decision. Clinton voted for the authorization, but currently calls her decision a mistake.
3. Involvement in Syria
Sanders is against implementing a no-fly zone in Syria for fear of "never-ending U.S. entanglement in that region". Clinton is for increased military involvement and the establishment of a no-fly zone.
4. The Trans-Pacific Partnership
More widely known as TPP, this trade agreement would lower trade barriers, but would weaken regulations of multi-national corporations. Hillary Clinton supported TPP in the past, but currently expresses opposition to the partnership. Bernie Sanders does and has always opposed TPP.
5. Raising Taxes on the Wealthiest Americans
Both candidates support raising the taxes on people in the top tax brackets.
6. Fracking
Clinton does not completely oppose fracking. She is against fracking only under the following circumstances: when any locality or any state is against it, when the release of methane or contamination of water is present, and unless it can required that anybody who fracks has to tell us exactly what chemicals they are using. Sanders opposes fracking in all circumstances.
7. Federal Decriminalization of Marijuana
Sanders introduced a bill in 2015 that would end the federal prohibition of marijuana. Clinton does not support full decriminalization, but supports a more lenient policy toward medical marijuana and a move to classify marijuana as a Schedule II controlled substance (with methadone and oxycodone) instead of a Schedule I substance.
8. The Death Penalty
Clinton has consistently voted for the death penalty during her political career and currently supports the death penalty. Sanders has consistently voted against the death penalty and currently opposes it.
9. The Patriot Act
This act allows the US government to maintain surveillance on its citizens in an attempt to combat terrorism. Hillary Clinton voted for the bill and currently supports the act because of its uses against terrorism. Bernie Sanders has voted against the bill and currently opposes the act because of its methods that "undermine the constitutional rights that make us a free country".
10. Healthcare
Hillary Clinton supports the improvement and enforcement of Obamacare. Bernie Sanders supports a single-payer healthcare system that would act as an expansion of Medicare.
11. Free Tuition at Public Colleges/Universities
Bernie Sanders supports free tuition at public colleges. Hillary Clinton opposes this, but supports a plan that would help students graduate with no debt.
12.The Glass-Steagall Act
The Glass-Steagall Act would prevent banks from participating in high-risk trading and investing that is arguably the cause of the failure of thousands of banks during the Great Depression. Clinton has openly stated that she would not reinstate Glass-Steagall as president. Sanders strongly supports the act's reinstatement.
13. The 2008 Wall Street Bailout
Sanders voted against it, while Clinton voted for it.
14. Campaign Finance
Sanders refuses money from Super-PACs and supports a change in campaign finance. Clinton receives large amounts of money from Super-PACs, but also expresses an interest in reforming campaign finance.
