13 Traits All Former Catholic School Kids Have In College

Having gone to Catholic schools from K-12, college is definitely a culture shock at first and I learned that my interpretation of school is completely different than a lot of my friends. Are you the black sheep from Catholic school out of your friends? Check out these 13 traits that all Catholic school kids in college can relate to.

1. Being genuinely stressed about having to pick out clothes to wear to class.

Are you sure I can't bring my uniform with me to college?

2. You still get nervous about being on your phone during class.

It's time to retire your pocket texting skills, you're safe here.

3. You still get nervous about getting up in the middle of class.

Don't be that guy that raises their hand in the middle of a 50-plus person lecture to ask to go to the bathroom.

4. Feeling weird not having morning, lunch, and afternoon prayer.

Along with being looked at like you had three heads when you tell people that you had homeroom every morning.

5. Having to explain what theology is and how you think that it's easy.

"You're telling me that you had to memorize all of the Commandments and all of the Books of the Bible plus more just in elementary school?"

6. Being completely out of the loop of when any Liturgical days or seasons are...

Don't be surprised when you find yourself looking up churches and mass times so you don't feel guilty for missing Ash Wednesday mass for the first time.

7. ...and having to explain what is on your forehead...

Yes I know it's there and no it's not dirt.

8. ...along with having to explain to your friends why they have to stop you from eating sweets these next 40 days.

I know that you've solely depended on the school cafeteria to remind you to not eat meat on Fridays, but those days are over. Welcome to the dining halls where chicken tenders and temptation are around every corner.

9. Not getting penalized for your hair length or clothing choices.

Getting made fun of for having "polo and shorts season" with uniforms and leaving people astounded at the fact that you used to get fined for your shorts not touching your finger tips and for chewing gum.

10. Being asked, "Do they actually tell you to leave room for the Holy Spirit?" at least twice while talking about school dances.

Yes; and you get put in time out if you don't.

11. Being fascinated by stories of hallway and classroom fights told by your public school friends.

"I've never seen or been in an actual fight, but one time a kid got in an argument with our teacher and got kicked out of class" is the closest thing you have to a fight story.

12. Actually missing school lunches and not being ashamed to thoroughly describe what your favorite meals were.

Thank the Lord for this food we are about to eat and thank Michelle Obama for coming no where near our cafeteria.

13. Having to explain why you have so many service hours.

Along with explaining the concept of completing a certain amount of service hours in order to complete a grade.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
