I can honestly say that my decision to become a cheerleader was one of the best that I've ever made in my life. It taught me discipline, how to support others, how to work as a team, how to work for what I want, and so many other things.
On top of giving me life lessons, it gave me lifelong friendships and helped me form the personality I have today. However, there was a price to pay...and I'm talking more than the thousands of dollars put into competitions, mat fees, uniforms, makeup, etc. The price we all had to pay was for our joints to age a lot quicker than they should, and every single retired cheerleader out there knows exactly what I'm talking about. You could just be sitting on the couch and suddenly your hip hurts, or your back hurts, or your knees, or your whatever. And what goes through your mind? Well, I'll tell you....
