13 Thoughts Every College Student Has At The End Of Summer
Silvia Mordini

As the end of summer nears, college students everywhere are getting ready to go back to school. They are starting to feel excited and bittersweet all at the same time! Here are 13 things that every college student thinks towards the end of the summer!

1. Where in the world did the summer go?

It feels like you just got home for the semester yesterday!

2. Yes! I get to see all of my friends in like a month!

You've spent all summer waiting and waiting to see those people you call family away from home!

3. Ugh, I have to start classes in like a month!

Is it possible to just see my friends and not have classes? And why in the world did I take so many credits! How am I going to do this? #sleepisfortheweak

4. I am NOT ready to eat cafeteria food again.

I'm going to be sick for a week until my body adjusts. Can I just live off Ramen noodles this year?

5. Why in the world are textbooks so much money?

Who even writes these things anyway? And why do their words cost so much money? I want that job... Those little high school students better appreciate those free textbooks! They better love them and cuddle them!

6. I used to buy school clothes -- now I buy these overpriced books and I can't afford new clothes.

I guess jeans are still my "dressy" clothes... I wonder what sales Walmart is having right now?

7. Do I actually need the book for this class?

Am I actually going to read this? Probably not, but what if there's an open-book test? I'll add this to my Amazon cart just in case.

8. I should start thinking about packing.

I'll start early this year so I'm not so stressed out the night before I leave!

9. Nah, I am going to binge-watch TV/ Netflix instead. I have a whole month to pack!

Ohh! They just put the newest season of "How to Get Away With Murder" on Netflix! I'll start packing when I finish this season.

10. Is it possible to get enough sleep now for late-night papers coming up?

*Googles how many hours a person can sleep a day*

11. Frick! I only have a week to pack! Why didn't I pack sooner!?

Why did I have to watch so much Netflix?? I'm an idiot -- how can I pack my whole life in a week?

12. Why do I have SO. MUCH. STUFF?

Who needs so many things? I am going to cut down! *Looks around* But I need that scarf holder! What will I do with all my scarves?

13. I'm kind of gonna miss home.

Wait, I kind of enjoyed relaxing and hanging out with old friends. And the food... I am going to miss the food the most!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
