With all the homework, exams, and other assignments to study for, the stress of school can be overwhelming. If you're anything like me, it's really easy to get so caught up in that stress that you literally can't think about anything else. It's important to find things to distract you, though! Here are some of my favorite ways to avoid thinking about the stress that comes with being in school.
1. Treat yourself to some really awesome snacks.
Order a pizza, find a good movie to watch, and take a few minutes to relax. It's good to indulge sometimes!
2. Take a nap.
I'm a firm believer that a good nap can solve almost any problem. Bad day? Take a nap. Writer's block? Take a nap. Basically, any time something feels wrong, just take a nap and it'll probably feel better when you wake up.
3. Watch some Netflix.
There's nothing like binge watching your favorite shows to get your mind off of things.
4. Call your parents.
Even if you go home often like I do, it's still nice to call your parents on days when you feel like you can't handle school anymore.
5. Take a walk.
Sometimes all you need is to take a walk around campus, or your neighborhood, to clear your mind and get back in the game.
6. Find an animal to pet.
Whether you're a dog person, a cat person, or any other type of animal lover, having a pet to hang out with is a great way to relieve stress.
7. Listen to your favorite songs.
Music is one of the easiest ways to relax yourself, I think. It's nice to get caught up in the lyrics of your favorite song and just forget about everything else for a little while.
8. Read.
Find a cozy spot and get lost in the world of fiction (or non-fiction)!
9. Color.
Adult coloring books are super popular now, and with good reason. Coloring is relaxing and also good for your brain!
10. Do something with your friends.
Nothing takes your mind off of the stress of school like spending time with your favorite people.
11. Take a hot shower.
Hot water can do wonders to make you feel better and more relaxed.
12. Online shop.
I mostly just browse (broke college student, duh), but it's always nice to see what your favorite stores have going on at any given time.
13. Take pictures of things you like.
Personally, I'm really into sunset photos. I love the way they look. No matter what you like, though, taking pictures is a great way to relax, and a great way to remember things!
