13 Things I'd Rather Do: Post-Spring Break

Can I go back?

With classes starting back after Spring Break, I keep finding myself wishing I was still in the La-La Land Spring Break provided me with. As thousands of college students found themselves at home or on the beach, they were granted one week of solitude out of the classroom but had to regretfully return to the real world after the week was up. If you're like me, wishing you were still on break, I'm thinking of things I'd rather be doing than sitting in class this week.

1. Going swimming

Is it summer yet? I'm tired of sitting inside a classroom and I just want to be free to swim and relax pool-side. If not pool-side, at least beach-side. I'm relatively flexible!

2. Reading a book

There's nothing better than reading a book in the hammock on a nice day! But, on most nice days, I'm inside learning about this or that. Lets take a vote: Who would rather have class outside?

3. Taking a drive

Roll the windows down, turn the radio up, and sing at the top of my lungs... Now there's something to remind me of the summer weather that's to come!

4. Taking a nap

ZZZZZzzzzzz. There's a way to pass some time! Taking a nap is always a way to pass the hours and rest up.

5. Soaking up sun

That Vitamin D isn't going to soak up itself! Grab a beach chair and bask in the beautiful day that is surely happening outside!

6. Going for a hike

There's no better time to become one with nature than to go on a hike. Check out the new trail you noticed last time and pack a lunch for when you get hungry. It's better than sitting inside!

7. Going to a concert

Did you get tickets? It seems like everyone else did but me and my classmates! We have lecture at 6:30 and wont be able to make it in time.

8. Playing with animals

Has anyone seen my cat? Oh yeah, he's taking a nap while I wait out this two hour class. I'll be home soon, bud...

9. Painting

Pass the mint green please! I could be making some new wall art but instead I'm making a lab report.

10. Working out

Gotta lose that weight somehow. Being sedentary at this desk isn't really helping the process but I have to learn so it'll have to wait.

11. Working in general

Some kind of productivity I wouldn't mind doing. Smiling faces, cheerful hellos, what's not to like?

12. Hanging out with family

It wasn't fun being uprooted from my time with family to return for classes. Can I just go back home instead?

13. Almost anything

I'm ready for summer.

Don't worry y'all. Summer is just a few more exams, assignments, and mental breakdowns away! We can make it! Go spend some time outdoors studying or catch a movie. Don't forget to keep pushing through though!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
