I don't know about anyone else, but I am mentally stuck in 2012. Sometimes it genuinely surprises me that we are living in the year 2016. Most of my friends are 20 or are turning 20 this year and if being two decades old doesn't sound old, I don't know what does! Here are things that are guaranteed to make you have a mini quarter-life crisis when you realize how old they (and you) truly are.

1. Britney Spears' 2007 meltdown happened nine years ago. Now, her life is more put together than mine.

2. Facebook was created in September 2006. Although it feels like Facebook is still a new media network, it is turning a decade old this year!

3. "Hannah Montana" debuted in 2006. 10 years later, Miley Cyrus looks (and acts) nothing like her former self.

4. Khloe and Lamar's month-long whirlwind romance happened in 2009, culminating in marriage. Although it seems like the pair wasn't married for very long, they spent 4 years together before their 2013 divorce.

5. "The Lizzie McGuire Movie" came out in 2003, making it 13 years old this year!

6. Leonardo Dicaprio is over 40 (41 to be exact), but he still looks as good as ever!

7. Zendaya from "Shake it Up," who I always thought was at least 5 years younger than me, is turning 20 in September.

8. DVDs have been around for 20 years, the first ones being released in Japan in 1996. Although they were a major step up from VHS tapes, they're no longer modern technology.

9. Avril Lavigne's "Sk8er Boi" was released in 2002, making 2016 the 14th year of angsty teen girls singing aggressively to this jam.

10. Similarly, Taylor Swift's first album turns 10 years old this year, as it was released in 2006 when she was 16.

11. The 7th Harry Potter book was released in 2007, making it almost a decade since the world has had any updates about Harry Potter.

12. It's been 7 years since Kanye West stole the mic from Taylor Swift at the VMAs. Even though this happened in 2009, I hope that people never stop talking about it.
