Whether you love her or hate her, Taylor Swift speaks the truth even if you do not want to hear it. My music taste has always been all over the place, but Taylor Swift and her music has always held a special place in my heart. If I'm down in the dumps or if I'm on cloud nine, Taylor has the lyrics that say exactly how you're feeling, even if you didn't say them yourself. She has lyrics that have been sung and I have most certainly heard, loud and clear. And there are always those you will never forget.
1. "We're too busy dancing to get knocked off our feet." - New Romantics.
A little dance party never killed nobody. But seriously, if you're unhappy in anyway, you can't hear the haters when you're too busy dancing to the beat of your own drum.
2. "Nothing safe is worth the drive." - Treacherous.
Well, ain't that the truth? Taking a risk is way better than playing it safe. It always makes for better stories anyway.
3. "You'd tell me about your past, thinking your future was me." -All Too Well.
This has to be one of my favorite songs of all time. The lyrics hit you in ways you never thought possible and speak the words you always wanted to hear but never wanted to say. Right in the feels.
4. "The rest of the world was black and white, but we were in screaming color."-Out of the Woods.
What a line. Doesn't matter if you have a favorite memory with a friend, a boyfriend/girlfriend, or your whole squad, this line will speak to that point in time.
5. "Words, how little they mean when you're a little too late." -Sad Beautiful Tragic.
Do you ever look back on a conversation or an argument with someone, and you can't help but wish you said something else? Yup.
6. "The lingering question kept me up, 2 a.m. who do you love?" - Enchanted.
You can't tell me you've never sat up late at night thinking about that cute guy you saw in the elevator. We could've had it all...
7. "You got that long hair slicked back, white t-shirt, and I got that good girl faith and a tight little skirt." -Style.
And it makes you think of that guy every time.
8. "I think that the worst part of it all wasn't losing him. It was losing me."-I Knew You Were Trouble.
This wasn't in a song, but it was in her 'I Knew You Were Trouble' video. But damn, when she says it, it hits you.
9. "One night he wakes, strange look on his face. Pauses. Then says, 'You're my best friend.' And you knew what it was. He is in love." -You Are in Love.
Could quite possibly be one of my favorite lyrics of all time. You Are in Love is a song that will make you feel like you've already met the love of your life. All you need is to roll over in bed, see them lying there and suddenly, life is perfect.
10. "You've got a smile that could light up this whole town. I haven't seen it in a while since she brought you down."- You Belong With Me.
C'mon. Don't act like you've never fell for the guy with the girlfriend you know is bad news. He should be with you and not her.
11. "You call me up again just to break me like a promise. So casually cruel in the name of being honest."- All Too Well.
Sorry, but yes, this song is one of the best lyrically written songs. Whether you listened to it right after your first heartbreak or not, you feel all the words one lyric at a time.
12. "He's the song in the car I keep singing, don't know why I do."- Teardrops On My Guitar.
Ah, yes. That guy we all want but can't have. We all got 'em.
13. "You know I love the players and you love the game." -Blank Space.
Whether you're blasting this song in the car while driving around with your friends or singing it at the top of your lungs in the shower, you know the bad guys are only for fun. You learn the hard way one way or another. Still fun, though.
Don't get me wrong, there are so many more songs with lyrics I'll always get stuck in my head. The moment you heard them, who you were with when you heard them, how you felt when you heard them and where you were in your life when you heard them. Some things, and some lyrics, you just never forget.
