13 Struggles of Having Long Hair

Maintaining any hairstyle can be a real challenge for girls and guys. You need to take into consideration the weather, any physical activity you may be doing that day, if it will dry in time...so many factors can make dealing with hair a nightmare. This is a shoutout to all the girls with long luscious locks that you have learned to love AND hate.

1. It ends up EVERYWHERE.

You find it on the floor, in your bed, the shower, to name a few places. Just imagine living with all female roommates. It's almost as if all of the hair combined can make up another roommate.

2. The cost of shampoo and conditioner is ridiculous.

For long hair especially, good quality shampoos and conditioners are a necessity, and now that you go through one bottle of Tresemme every two months, you need to buy it more often.

3. There is no such thing as just "rolling out of bed" in the morning.

Long hair means a long amount of time spent on styling it. Straightening, curling, scrunching, it all takes longer compared to someone who has short hair. That is why we envy you.

4. All you ever hear: "Wow your hair is SO long!"

In the beginning it's not a big deal, and it can make you feel good about yourself and how you look. After a while, Meeting new people can be annoying just because of this simple compliment.

5. Waiting for it to dry.

Hair in general takes long to dry, so when you have a few more inches of it, it can take even longer. Making sure your hair is dry when you want to go out means that planning ahead of time is crucial.

6. The summer months.

It sticks to everything when it is hot out, and let me tell you, it is not a fun time. The frizzy mess that won't come off the back of your neck can be too much to handle sometimes.

7. WIND.

Forget all the time you spent styling and perfecting, one the wind gets to it, game over. It will be impossible to make it look the same.

8. It constantly is in the way.

Eating, brushing your teeth, even just bending over to pick something up, your hair, unless it is tied back, will always get in the way of whatever you are trying to do. Talk about frustration.

9. The knots.

Detanglers and other methods seem like great options until you realize it was all a waste of money. If your hair is long it is BOUND to be knotted up at least once throughout the day.

10. Broken hair ties.

I own more broken hair ties than usable hair ties. And let's all agree, that the instant your hair tie breaks and you realize you do not have another one, it becomes an issue of life or death.

11. Sore arms.

Keeping your arms up to wash your hair in the shower can be so tiresome. The cycle of lather, rinse, and repeat is not a joking matter.

12. Getting it caught in or on everything.

Zippers, car windows, doors, you name it, someone's hair was most likely caught in it. Deciding whether to pull it out or have someone else take the time to undo it is always tough.

13. The dreaded haircut.

When you make the initial choice to cut your hair, all the days leading up to the appointment are filled with worry and anxiety. When the deed is done, although your hair may be shorter, the healthy look and feel to it is definitely worth it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
