13 Signs You Went to duPont Manual High School
duPont Manual

The crimson and white will forever be colors of the ties that bring us together. From football games and ACT testing, to pep rallies and senior activities, the memories of Manual are ones that we will treasure forever. However, there are particular moments that strengthen our identity as Manual kids; only we know these to be true.

1. You take pride in a barrel.

2. Red/White week the most important week of the year.

3. You’ve heard Zube say that he graduated from Male at every red/white week pep rally for four years.

4. You get mad when people spell duPont with a capital “d”.

5. The walk from Manual to YPAS is a rite of passage.

6. Going to YPAS mainstage plays because they were just as good as Broadway productions.

7. Writing a 10-page paper on something you could say in one sentence.

8. Your first year of college felt easier than your four years at Manual.

9. You tried to avoid center stairs as much as possible.

10. As a freshman you thought sitting in the senior café was off limits.

11. After four years, the only words of the creed you knew were “…a school of lofty purpose and democratic ideals.”

12. Making lifelong friends

13. When everyone's favorite janitor has his own Facebook fan club page.

13. No matter where you go, Manual will always be your home.

The four years spent in the halls of Manual will be ones that are hard to forget. The pride that I have for the school is something unexplainable, as is watching my classmates go on to do amazing things. Thanks duPont for the experience of a lifetime and for that every day will always be Manual’s day.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
