You're either just graduating from high school and off to college, or you're in your early-mid twenties and you're lost and unhappy...what do you do? Some people think moving away is like running away from your 'problems', but it's not always the case. I, for one, moved from one state to another and wasn't very fond of my new 'home'. Don't get me wrong, I love Oregon. It's gorgeous and full of earthy colors, and that feeds the capricorn in me. I'm just not the happiest there. Sometimes I feel like if I don't get out now, will I ever? I guess having my friends scattered all over the east coast might have a factor in that, too. One of my best friend's and I have been joking about me moving to Philly, and this 'joke' is becoming a reality. Going to add a fourth state to my record, and who knows what will be next! This is for anyone who wants to move away, but might be hesitant to do so.

1. It's 100% okay to be nervous, it'd be weird if you weren't.

Doing any kind of drastic change is nerve racking.

2. Don't do it alone.

Move in with a friend across the country, like me.

3. Always have a plan B, and C, and even D.

4. Don't be afraid to get out of your 'bubble'.

5. Change is good for the soul.

Sometimes we get to used to the 'norm' and need a change of scenery.

6. Think of all the new friends you'll make

7. Get out and explore your new home, get acquainted.

8. Do it for you, and no one else.

Make sure you're doing it because it's going to benefit you

9. Plan it out, make lists, and budget.

10. It's always nice having support from family & friends, but don't let it discourage you if they don't support it.

You're young! Go out and do it while you can

11. It doesn't have to be permanent. Sometimes getting away for a year or two can help.

12. Weigh out the pros & cons.

13. Keep your mental health in mind.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
