The back-to-school countdown has officially reached 20-something days! For some, summer is the perfect break from campus. After all, it can be stressful trying to manage your social life and keep that perfect GPA. Yet, for others, summer is too long, and they are itching to get back in the thick of things. College is supposedly the best four years of your life, and I can't wait to get the ball rolling again.
1. Freedom
We all enjoy and cherish the time with our parents, yet, it's super hard to go from being completely independent to suddenly obeying someone else's rules again during the summer. College is the time when you practice being an adult and are totally on your own! Once back at school, there's no asking for permission to do anything. You're totally in control of your destiny, and it's great!
2. BFF's
Summer is the perfect time to catch up with your friends from home. However, high school friends come and go; college is where you meet your friends for life! It can be hard to meet up with your college pals over the summer—which makes it all the more exciting to see them again after the break!
3. Stuff To Do
Life at home can get repetitious: get up early, work, go home, eat, sleep, repeat. Yet, at school, you'll never be bored. There's always something going on, no matter the time or day. It's 2 a.m.? Walk to Cookout.
4. Brain Power
teachers! Unlike high school, the classes you're taking are relevant to your
future, which makes them engaging and fun! Plus, it's finally time to get that
new Lilly Pulitzer planner, and school supplies are always part of the fun,
too.
5. Dorm Decorating
Some people will be living in a new dorm, apartment, or off-campus house this semester, which means there's new space for decorations! Hang up your summer memories and show off your style.
6. Motivation
While at home, it's easy to let finishing that next episode of Netflix become the number one priority, school brings about deadlines, sorority activities, volunteer work, etc. There are lots of new things to keep you motivated and pumped for the day!
7. Papa Johns and Late-Night Snacking
For some reason, it's just not socially appropriate to order an entire pizza for yourself at midnight at home. Yet, your roommate totally understands that cheese pizza craving that must be satisfied.
8. Pop Out of the Bubble
There are people everywhere at school, allowing plenty of opportunities to expand your social circle. There are new friends to be found in all of your classes, extracurricular activities, and more!
9. Formal Recruitment
Greek life is the perfect way to get involved and make friends on campus! If you're already part of it then you can't wait for recruitment—the key time to meet new people.
10. Par-tay
College is the only time when it's socially acceptable to go out and party the night away with your friends! Cherish those nights of jungle juice and cheap beer—it won't last forever.
11. Sports
It's super fun to get all decked out in school spirit and root for the team with your friends! Even if your school's team isn't all that great, it's still awesome to gather with all your classmates and cheer them on together.
12. Gym
Goodbye financial obligation to your summer gym! Your school gym membership is totally free! It can also be hard to find the motivation to work out during the summer—with school comes the ease of just grabbing a roomie and heading to the gym!
13. This Could Be It
For seniors, this could be your last year. So, don't let any moment go to waste, and live every day like it's your last! You won't get these years back, and college is the best time of your life.
