13 Reasons Adulting Just Truly Sucks

Growing up is something that we all do and as more time passes, it seems that more hardships come our way.

You are starting to become more independent and learning how to do things on your own, but there are going to be a few failed attempts here and there. You also feel like you are just asking around to see if anyone else has had to deal with a similar situation and hope that they have some answers. Here are 13 reasons why adulting just sucks.

1. You have to start calling and making your own doctors appointments

You can remember a time where your parents used to make your appointments for you over the phone, but those days are long gone now. It seems like something stupid to be worried about, but you are terrified every time you have to dial the doctor's number and make an appointment.

2. Your mom is not there for you when you get sick

Getting sick sucks. But what sucks more is when your mom is not there to take care of you when you feel like you are dying. And calling her is not nearly the same thing as her being there to aid you back to health.

3. Being in charge of your own finances sucks

So... you often end up spending more than you should have and you are kicking yourself. To get more food or to eat what you already have? Who are you kidding, you are going out to get that food to go.

4. Trying to juggle school, a job, and everything else is a hard task

This is an art that no one has really perfected but you are trying your darnedest to do so. You know you shouldn't be surprised at the number of failures you have incurred but you know you will never learn.

5. You have less time to try to live that healthy lifestyle you said you would never give up

You already went to work, then to class, then worked on your homework you procrastinated to do, and now you have just enough time to go to the gym. But that is a lot of effort to make and there and actually force yourself to do something.

6. Alcohol is expensive

Oh, alcohol. You taste so good but take a major hit to my bank account.

7. There is no such thing as an off day

You keep begging for some time off but the days of getting to lie around and watch Netflix are far behind you. The world is coming at you faster than you would like.

8. All your friends move away

Remember the good old times? When all of your friends were just a short drive away? Yeah those were the good days until they packed up and left to pursue their career's.

9. People are still cruel, they are just smarter about it

You would think that you could live all of the pettiness behind you, but surprise people just evolve. Like are we still in high school?

10. Taxes have a special place in hell

Taxes. Once you enter the working force they will haunt you and you never want to pay them but they magically appear on every payday.

11. Laundry doesn't seem to do itself

Before you know it, your floor is overcrowded with dirty clothes that need to be washed but you have no motivation to do. Laundry is just a long unwanted process that everyone must eventually succumb to.

12. You're not allowed to order off the kid's menu anymore

The kid's menu is your jam but suddenly you are not allowed to order from it anymore. And you start freaking out because you can't eat all of the food that comes with the regular menu portion. It's barbaric.

13. Suddenly, wanting chicken nuggets at a restaurant is frowned upon

Wanting chicken nuggets is suddenly frowned upon just because people think its something a child would order. Wrong. Step aside and let me order my nugs.

Trying to adult sucks but somehow we will all make it through. But obviously not before we run into a few roadblocks and obstacles before doing so. So adult on my friends.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
