1. For starters, you can do whatever the heck you want!
You can party your butt off, or not at all. Or do whatever you want and you don't have to tell anyone what you are doing or where you're going. You can simply just live.
2. More time for shoe shopping
'Nuff said.
3. You don't have to include him in your group of girls.
My best friends take pride in the fact that we are only a group of girls. Much like the Sex and The City cast, we don't really want guys to hang out with us because that is our time to talk about the one thing that makes us most angry... men.
4. You can study without being interrupted by him every 4 and 1/2 seconds.
Major pet peeve. My homework is done so fast compared to what it used to be.
5. You can flirt with any and every guy that walks your way.
That guy that sits behind you in nutrition, the guy that sits next to you in history or even the guy that bought you Starbucks this morning. You can flirt with every single one.
6. When you're driving, you can listen to the music you actually want to listen to as opposed to some weird stuff his friends say is cool.
I love listening to my girl jams like Beyonce and even hardcore rock and roll. If you have anything to do with Kendrick Lamar my vote is no.
7. You don't have to pretend to like things you hate.
For me, practically every boyfriend I have ever had loved Jeeps and I hate them, and I shouldn't have to pretend to like them. Also, I like the beach over the snow and there is no compromise in that.
8. You can eat how you want to!
Past ex-boyfriends of mine have horrible diets, we are talking fast food 4 days a week. I don't mind a good burger here and there but I also could go for a salad too. I don't want my significant other to have bad eating habits, horribly unattractive.
9. You don't have to spend your money on him.
As a person who spent 300 dollars on a stupid snowboarding jacket for a boyfriend that was just temporary, I just realized that I could have bought any assortment of things to make myself happy. Let them spend money on you, or just don't have a boyfriend, problem solved.
10. You can be independent.
When you used to think about him, that time can now be used to help push yourself forward. So join clubs, get a better job, cut your hair, this life is about you. My hairdresser recently told me that my 20's are the time when I need to be unapologetic-ally selfish. I couldn't agree more.
11. Less stress.
There is something so great knowing you can go to bed at night without having to worry about being cheated on. Sweet bliss!
12. You can watch all the romantic comedies you want, no more bad movie choices.
Netflix and chill done the right way, pizza right by your side.
13. You're not obligated to try everyday.
Whatever that means to you. For me it means I can not wash my hair for 3 days and bun it up as much as possible.
