Dogs are the best and my boy, Luka, is the best. He's a cuddle bug, guard dog, walking mate and overall best friend. I have fallen deeply in love with him...and here's how it happened:
1. This was day one. The first day I met my sweet boy.
He was exactly one week old and I was already obsessed with him! I don't think I stopped smiling the entire time I was in Richmond.
2. As the weeks passed, Luka just kept growing...
My mom and I knew we wanted a big dog, but we didn't realize what we had gotten ourselves into with Luka!
3. And growing....
Luka (and puppies in general) sleep the majority of the time. Luka's favorite spots included sleeping in the food bowl and/or water bowl.
4. Until the time had finally come to take him home!
Puppies are sneaky and like to sleep or lay in some strange places, including underneath our coffee table and in my dad's slipper. Obviously that is super cute and only made me love him more.
5. During this phase, Luka slept most of the time...
Don't you just want to eat him up? HE IS SO CUTE.
Told you he slept there. My boy just really likes to eat.
6. But soon, all that changed. We played in the swimming pool...
Luka wasn't too sure of the pool at first, but he grew to love it.
7. And went on walks together...
BLESS HIS HEART.
8. And watched a lot of "Animal Planet"...
Luka refused to let me watch "Criminal Minds" and insisted that we always watch shows that had animals in them. If you think I'm kidding, I'm not. Luka actually sits and watches the TV.
9. And had some great cuddles...
Sadly, this is one of the last photos of me holding my boy...but he does weigh over 75 pounds now so it was going to happen eventually!
10. We cheered on the Bearcats...
Yes, it makes my Xavier-loving dad angry that Luka loves the University of Cincinnati Bearcats more than Xavier. And yes, I gave Luka extra treats for holding this hat like this.
11. And decorated for Christmas...
Luka didn't actually help decorate, but he did run around with one of our Christmas wreaths for about an hour. Plus he let me take this adorable photo of him in front of the tree!
12. Took a much needed nap...
Luka and I still share a great love of naps and we take them together at any opportunity.
13. And were best friends forever!
In four short months I have been blessed with a new best friend. And now I cannot imagine my life without him. Get a dog people, they make life better. Dog really is a (wo)man's best friend and I wouldn't have it any other way.
