Overall, college students have a couple of things in common; they love food, anything that's free, and having a good time. These are all true things especially for students at Gustavus Adolphus College. Here are just a few things Gustavus students get overly excited about.
1. Free food at events
When you want people to come to your event, lead with "free food" and students will flock to your event.
2. Frost-your-owns
Sugar cookies + different color frostings + different kinds of sprinkles= heaven.
3. Gyro day
Every Friday in the Gustie Grill there is make your own gyros and you can always guarantee that there is going to be a huge line. Oh, and there's also cream cheese wontons in the Hello Wok *heart-eyed emoji*
4. Case day
Pretty much the most hyped up "holiday" for Gustavus students where you attempt to drink a case of beer throughout the day. It definitely lives up to expectations.
5. Beer pong tournament
Grab a partner, pick a costume, and attempt to win the best tournament GAC has to offer.
6. Nobel conference
Two days off from classes to listen to scholars from around the world or just have two days off from homework>>>
7. The "Big Concert" every other year
Having a big concert every other year is always something to look forward to. Some past performers were Hunter Hayes, Timeflies, and Mike Stud.
8. Traying
When the first snow storm finally hits the hill of Gustavus you know what to do. Grab a tray from the cafeteria, use it as a sled, and have some winter fun (:
9. Christmas in Christ Chapel
The atmosphere of C in CC is impeccable, you can truly see the talent ooze from the Gustavus choirs.
10. Mr.Gustavus
Senior guys dancing and showing off their talents for a good cause? What could be more entertaining?
11. Spray painting the rock
Painting the rock has been a standing tradition at Gustavus for many years. Specifically, the fight to paint the rock during pledge for greek life is a way to express your love for your sorority or fraternity and if I do say so myself, it's pretty exhilarating.
12. Wednesday nights
Most colleges and universities go out Thursday nights but here at GAC we go out Wednesday nights since most students don't have classes Thursday. But sometimes students do have class the next day and get a little too excited for a weekday (:
13. Themed parties
Themed parties are one of the best thing to come to GAC since frost-your-owns.
