Every Naturalista knows it's hard finding what products work best for their mane. It seems like a never ending cycle of trial and error with the entire sulfate free aisle of the beauty supply. Once we do discover what works, it's like striking gold.

Here are a few of my go to products and tools:

1. Africa's Best Ultimate Herbal Oil

This stuff is like magic in a bottle. I usually put this on my hair and scalp after applying my leave-in conditioner. A great bonus to this product is that it is really CHEAP. It won't cost you more than $3. An added bonus, you can use it for your body too!!

2. Hair Pick

I swear by my pick. It can usually turn a mess of a bad hair day into a somewhat presentable hair day. I feel every natural should have at least one, just for safe keeping.

3. Jamaican Black Castor Oil

Oils are literally a must have for every natural; more specifically Jamaican Black Castor Oil. The consistency of this oil traps in all the moisture while strengthening and nourishing the hair.

4. Literally, any natural oil

If it's a natural oil, whether it be coconut, olive, or tea tree, I am pretty sure it has a few benefits that us naturals are looking for.

5. A Satin Pillowcase

The material stops the hair from breaking off while sleeping. I've had mine since I was 12.

6. Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strength and Grow Leave-In Conditioner

A good leave-in is always hard to come by. They're all usually pricey and so is this one, but this time, I promise it's worth it.

7. Hicks Total Transformation Hicks Edges

Now, this doesn't hold my edges for a complete 24 hours, but it is the only product that comes close to doing so. Its a thumbs up from me.

8. Head & Shoulders Dandruff Shampoo

I suffer from dry scalp syndrome (I'm not sure that's a real thing) and this is always an easy fix to my flaky scalp.

9. Dark and Lovely Au Naturale Moisture L.O.C Deep Conditioning Delight

Dark and Lovely is overall an awesome brand to turn to as a natural and this deep conditioner only adds to the hype.

10. Wide Tooth Comb

While I am not a child, I still have childlike characteristics such as being "tender-headed." Wide tooth combs help in avoiding any unnecessary pain caused by detangling.

11. Bobby Pins

Bobby pins have the ability to turn a twist-out gone wrong into a cute accidental fro-hawk. "Wasn't the original look I was going for, but it'll do" is usually what follows after stabbing about 20 bobby pins into my head.

12. Biotin

I'm not 100 percent sure if these actually work, but I religiously pop about three of these everyday.

13. WATER

I know, I know. Water is so cliche, but it's literally a MUST have for natural hair. It moisturizes the hair while defining the hairs natural curl pattern. I'm sure every Naturalista you ask will swear by this.

Hopefully these products and tools are as much of a benefit to you as they are to me. May your hair grow long and prosper.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Whether you met your new love interest online, through mutual friends, or another way entirely, you'll definitely want to know what you're getting into. I mean, really, what's the point in entering a relationship with someone if you don't know whether or not you're compatible on a very basic level?

Consider these 21 questions to ask in the talking stage when getting to know that new guy or girl you just started talking to:

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
