The 13 Best Lyrics From Hamilton
The New York Times

Hamilton has inspired those young and old across America. I have always loved American history but I've never gotten the chance to go in depth into it. That was until my best friend showed me the glories of Hamilton. Lin-Manuel Miranda first performed the opening number "Alexander Hamilton" for the President and First Lady of The United States at the White House Poetry Jam in 2009. Little did anyone know, they were experiencing the beginning of a worldwide phenomenon. Here are some of my favorite lines from Hamilton that made me first fall in love with the production.

1. "I'm a trust fund baby you can trust me."

This super catchy pickup line is spoken by no other than Aaron Burr and is one of the first things I loved about Hamilton.

2. "Awesome. Wow"

We have all had this attitude at some point.

3. "Heres an itemized list of 30 years of disagreements."

Because we all aspire to be this level of petty.

4. "Immigrants, we get the job done."

One of the most iconic lines from the production, this is especially relevant to America today. It really highlights the fact that we are a nation founded by immigrants.

5. "Talk less. Smile more."

Simple, yet effective.

6. "What is a legacy? It's planting seeds in a garden you never get to see."

Hamilton emphasizes this multiple times both when he first comes to America and right before he dies. Our actions today determine our legacy for when we aren't here anymore. Just because we won't be here to see it, doesn't mean we should want to have any less of an impact on others.

7. "And when push comes to shove, I will send a fully armed battalion to remind you of my love."

So. Much. Sass.

8. "I am the one thing in life I can control. I am inimitable, I am an original."

This is such a powerful song and it's probably the one time I actually like Aaron Burr.

9. "And when you said "Hi" I forgot my dang name."

Oh, the joys of having your first love.

10. "I'm just like my country. I'm young, scrappy and hungry. I am not throwing away my shot."

Seizing the opportunities placed in front of us, even if they aren't part of our initial plans, can change our life forever. I'm sure every Hamilton fan can find some deep meaning to this quote.

11. "You forfeit all rights to my heart."

I love this so much. There is so much girl power in this song and we've literally all been there.

12. "Keep ranting. We know who's really doing the planting."

THIS MOMENT. When I first heard this my jaw dropped. I couldn't believe Hamilton actually pointed this out. Seriously, a genius moment on Lin-Manuel Miranda's part.

13. "Dying is easy, young man. Living is harder."

This highlights the fact that we face challenges every day in our lives and it's how we get through them that make us human.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
