Growing up in the '90s and 2000s, Disney Channel Original Movies were a way of life. Disney Channel movies taught us the value of friendship, family, and staying true to ourselves. But let's not forget the most valuable lesson of all: if you have a friend of the opposite sex, he or she is definitely in love with you! Only kidding. While Disney Channel Originals weren't always realistic, we all miss them. Here's 13 DCOM that you'll want to watch right now.
1. "Halloweentown."
The first installment of the "Halloweentown" series and frankly, the best. It's appropriate for any time of year, not just Halloween.
2. "Zenon (Girl of the 21st Century)."
We all wanted to be his Supernova Girl. Lukcily, if you're involved in Greek life, the alien theme is proving to be extremely popular for date parties, ZETUS LAPETUS!
3. "Double Teamed!"
Honestly, yes. Volleyball and basketball stars? I trip over my own rug at least three times a week. You go Heather and Heidi.
4. "Cadet Kelly."
Fighting to keep her individuality in a place that doesn't encourage it. Can you say teen angst?
5. "Get a Clue."
Lindsay Lohan gave us a "Legally Blonde"-esque performance while using fashion to crack a case. As well as one of the greatest taglines in DCOM history: "Trust no one, question everything."
6. "Gotta Kick It Up!"
This spunky dance team taught us one important lesson: Si se puede, si se puede!
7. "Right on Track."
Two sisters fighting against the prejudice of a male-dominated sport. YES DISNEY. YES.
8. "Eddie's Million Dollar Cook-Off"
Ignoring the judgment of throwing in his baseball glove for an oven mitt, Eddie pursues his true passion of cooking. Pretty impressive to me, considering I still can't cook box mac and cheese.
9. "The Cheetah Girls."
Were you actually best friends if you didn't fight over which Cheetah Girl you were? Yes, for all those concerned, I was always Chanel.
Side note: Beyonce wasn't the first to have "hot sauce in my bag swag." Cough, cough, Aqua.
10. "Pixel Perfect."
Phil just couldn't get out of the future, so he created a holographic pop star. A love triangle between Roscoe, his female best friend, and a holographic creation...a little strange, but we rolled with the punches.
11. "Stuck In The Suburbs."*
*Indicates my favorite Disney Channel Original Movie, and it should be yours too
Brittany was sick of her boring suburban life (amen, girl). Excitement ensues when she accidentally swaps phones with Jordan Cahill, who is essentially the Justin Timberlake of this DCOM.
12. "Twitches."
Two who people don't realize they're twins until they meet in a clothing store. OK, so it's almost the exact plot of "Sister, Sister." However, it's still a movie about two magically empowered females saving the world, which is awesome.
13. "High School Musical 1," "2," and "3" of course!
We refused to stick to the status quo, we cried when Gabriella had to go her own way, and we gave up on life completely when they threw their graduation caps. Honestly, Kenny Ortega doesn't get nearly as much credit as he deserves for introducing us all to Zac Efron.
