If you have a sister you know how precious they are to you. It's your best friend, sister and confidant all wrapped up into one. But being an older sister is slightly different, and here are twelve reasons why.
1. You let her get her way more often.
If you are an older sister you get that you will just have to give up the front seat, or the shirt you wanted to wear for that day because your sister wanted it.
2. You want to protect her with your whole being.
If you could wrap your sister in bubble wrap, you would. You love your sister so much and hate seeing her in any type of hurt or pain.
3. You want the best for her.
You could not imagine your sister settling. You want to see her succeed in every single way you can imagine her do so.
4. You have high expectations for her.
You have higher expectations for your sister than yourself, because you know all she is possibly cable of. You believe in her more than she believes in herself, and that's the beauty of being an older sister.
5. You take the blame.
Whether you did it or not, you take the blame no matter what it is for. If your sister pierces her own ears, you get yelled at for it for not telling your parents. It's the price you pay for being an older sister.
6. You are the example.
You want to do the best for yourself to set an example for your sister. You want your sister to see your goals and exceed them.
7. You feel what she feels.
When your sister is upset or hurting, you are upset and hurting, because to you your sister is everything and if something hurts her it hurts you.
8. You don't let anybody mess with her.
You know that people know not to mess with your sister, because you are such a protective older sister that nothing will stop you from making sure people know that they are not something to be messed with or else they get to deal with you.
9. You scold her like a mother.
You constantly are telling her to not do certain things, completely out of love to make sure she protects herself. If anything happened to her you could never forgive yourself.
10. You give her the clothes that don't fit you.
You buy something and think it will fit you, but little do you know it doesn't. Luckily, you have a sister to give a random surprise to. And they love it because it's new clothes.
11. You get angry easily.
If you have a little sister you know how often they push your buttons. She wants to see how far she can push you before you explode.
12. You miss her like crazy.
Going into my third week of college, I would have never imagined missing my sister as much as I do. The warm face, and the delightful conversations are what I miss most.
