12 Ways to Relieve Stress

12 Tips for Relieving Stress.

1. Yoga.

Yoga helps to keep you calm, the deep breathing exercises help to keep you focused on the task at hand. They want you breathing in the good energy and breathing out the bad energy. Yoga give your mind, and soul a break and time to rejuvenate. There is a great app on the IPhone called Downward Dog for yoga at home!

2. Stretching.

Stretching is a great way to loosen up your muscles and to relax your body. It is a way to stay healthy and flexible and make living life haipper and more comfortable.

3. Keep a Journal.

Keeping a journal will keep you reminded of how or why you were feeling certain ways. It is a way to look back on good times that you have had, and even to look back on bad times and to see what those bad times have taught you. It is a way to get all of your feeling out without involving other people into the mix. The paper listens while you talk, it does not give any opinions back for you to think about.

4. Make a list of everything you are thankful for.

Making a list of everything that you are thankful for can open up your eyes to the things we do not think about everyday. This list can be day to day or one big one that is just a constant reminder of what there is to be thankful for in your life. Some examples could be your parents, that you have the opportunity to go to school, we have the freedom of speech and the ability to write and publish what we want. All you have to do is take a minute to look around you know everything is gonna be alright.

5. Turn off your phone for an hour or two.

Remove yourself from the stress of your phone going off every 10 seconds. Our generation has Twitter, Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram, etc.. Every once and a while we need to detach ourselves from everyone's opinions and just have a clear head with out injection. Especially from poem porn which can keep you up thinking all night which helps no one.

6. Stress Reliving food.

While pizza, Chinese, and McDonald's are the go to comfort foods they do not help the problem they just help you avoid it a little bit longer. Foods that can actually lower stress are leafy greens, turkey, oatmeal, and blueberries. Turkey actually has calming power which is why everyone who eats turkey on thanksgiving passes out after eating it.

7. Try to look for humor in every situation you are in.

Laughing is something that you need do and it could be at anything, but just laugh because you will not be able to control anything so might as well laugh through it.

8. Call a friend.

Call your person. The one who has held you at your lowest points and has celebrated at your highest. That one person who no matter what you do will have your back because you have already been through hell and back. When you need them most they will listen and help you make it through tough times.

9. Eat better.

This does not mean that you have to detox and eat 3 carrots and a slice of cheese for lunch. It means feeding yourself with nutritious but appetizing meals and instead of having 2 pints of Ben and Jerry's for dessert you only have one.

10. Learn to say NO.

Saying no is for yourself and no one else. It is having enough in you to know that your plate is over flowing and you need a little bit of time to yourself so you do not go insane. You do not need to explain it to anyone else, you just need to do it for you and only you.

11. Get lost in music.

Turn up music so loud that you can not think. Then, just dance and get lost in singing the words as loud as you can. Feel it running through your soul.

12. Treat yourself.

Make sure that you are not working so hard that you forget to give yourself some credit and treat yourself to a nice dinner, massage, or just take a nice bath with one of those foaming balls from lush. It will give your mind and body a nice break from reality.

Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
