"Mama was my greatest teacher, a teacher of compassion, love and fearlessness. If love is sweet as a flower, then my mother is that sweet flower of love." - Stevie Wonder
I love you: three simple words that can bring a smile to almost everyone's faces. In relationships, we sometimes don't say it enough, or we say it too early, or don't say it all. But we all say it to that one special lady: Mom. With Mothers Day having occurred this past weekend, here are 12 ways that many mothers say "I love you" without saying those three words, which just makes us appreciate them even more.
1. Let Me Know When You Get There.
Before I go anywhere, there are the infamous words that leave my mother's mouth: "Let me know when you get there." Those seven simple words create a sentence with the same amount of feeling as an "I love you."
2. Buckle Up.
Just two simple words to always make sure that her baby is safe. My mother has always said to me "buckle up" when she see's me off. Those two words are all she has to say to put a smile on my face.
3. Drive Safe.
4. Who's Going To Be There Tonight?
The scariest question your mother asks, especially when you know you are going to hang out with friends that she disapproves of... although it is all in good thought as she just wants us to be safe.
5. Don't Forget a Sweater.
6. You Have Gas, Right?
Just another gift that your mother gives you — the question that she asks, although she knows you can pay for it yourself, but she still wants to pay, knowing you will always be her baby.
7. Get Some Rest.
8. Watch Your Step.
If Mom wasn't kind enough, there is always the "watch your step" when there is gum on the sidewalk, a step-down or if she just tripped on something.
9. Be Careful.
10. Call Me If You Need Anything.
As if we do not call our moms enough in a day, asking her questions about laundry, dishes, our health, etc., she always makes sure to add a "call me if you need anything" into any conversation.
11. Be Safe.
12. I Made You Food.
I love you can be said in many different ways — it doesn't always have to be the traditional three words. I love you can be said by even two simple words like "be safe." Even though we all may not say it enough, we do love you. Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms... (even the fur moms.)
