Teachers experience it all: the planning, prepping,
grading, after school meetings, testing –– you name it! Their hard work and
dedication is often overlooked. After some time in the classroom, I've come
up with a list of things almost every teacher is able to relate to!
1. Post-it's and paper clips are a lifesavers.
Organization is key! You keep Staples in business!
2. Your bladder is bigger than you think.
How much longer until prep when I can finally dart down the hall to the restroom?
3. Sleep? What is sleep?
Oh, that's your long lost friend, sleep. Miss him? Yeah, but papers won't grade themselves!
4. You have a best friend who goes by the name of coffee.
5. Shoes might look cute and innocent, but they're the devil in disguise.
Bring those band aids and an extra pair of shoes! Those heels might look cute on the shelf, but your feet might not after a long day of teaching.
6. You have the teacher look down pat.
You know, "the look." The one that means "Don't test me or I will give you a zero on that quiz."
7. Your late nights aren't filled with Netflix but grading.
Ah fun filled nights with papers, tests and quizzes! But no worries, you can spice things up by using a different colored pen to grade!
8. You and your teacher friends turn the latest songs into school songs.
"Watch me teach, now watch me grade — grade!"
9. A new day, a new scarf.
Think you've worn that outfit too many times? No worries! Throw on a different scarf, and you'll still be getting compliments!
10. The teaching part is the easy part.
The lesson itself isn't the hard part like you've always worried about. It's keeping up with parent emails, after school meetings, grading, lesson planning, accommodations and all that fun stuff.
11. Your lunch looks like yogurt with a side of papers.
There's not enough time in the day for all the grading, lessons, emails and lesson plans so your lunch is oftentimes accompanied by a side of work.
12. You are superman/superwoman.
The weekends are never long enough, and the hours you spend cuddling with your pillow seem so brief –– but the show must go on! You sacrifice your time to be the best teacher you can be. You are passionate about your job and would never let your students down.
