12 Underrated Disney Movies That Need To Be Seen Pronto

With the release of Disney's live-action adaptation of "Beauty and the Beast" right around the corner, it is time to look at some of my favorite and most underrated Disney movies to date. While I love all things Disney, I have chosen what I believe to some of Disney's best movies that just missed the spotlight.

1. "Brother Bear" - 2003

"Brother Bear" is one of my all-time favorites. It has action, adventure, love, comedy, and a stellar soundtrack featuring Phil Collins. If you watch only one movie from this list, it needs to be "Brother Bear."

2. "The Black Cauldron" - 1985

There's a good chance you haven't seen Disney's "The Black Cauldron" and that is a shame. Many people argue that this movie was just simply ahead of its time with its intense plot line and terrifying villain. There were also rumors that this movie was blacklisted by Disney because it was their first movie to receive a PG rating.

3. "Oliver & Company" - 1988

I absolutely love this movie. It captures your attention from the very first scene and may bring you to tears in the first five minutes. It's just that good and I highly recommend it. Like seriously, go watch it.

4. "Meet The Robinsons" - 2007

The fact that this movie is ten years old hurts my heart especially since it is easily one of the most quotable movies. "I have a big head and little arms, I'm just not sure how well this plan was thought through." It's also another one of my favorites.

5. "Treasure Planet" - 2002

I had to put "Treasure Planet" on the list. This movie is unlike anything Disney has done before and is so underrated it hurts. It's a must see.

6. "Atlantis: The Lost Empire" - 2001

This movie has it all - romance, mystery, and the legendary Lost City of Atlantis. You really don't need anything more.

7. "The Rescuers" - 1977 (and its sequel, The Rescuers Down Under - 1990)

For some reason, this film series always gets overlooked. Who doesn't want to watch two cute mice going on a wild adventure?

8. "The Great Mouse Detective" - 1986

Speaking of mice, "The Great Mouse Detective" continues the mouse theme and adds some action packed mystery. Another must see mouse movie from Disney.

9. "Home on the Range" - 2004

"Home on the Range" has everything it needs to be a Disney movie success. Music by Alan Menken, original plot, fantastic humor, and a strong cast. Besides, who wouldn't want to see farm animals go an adventure to catch a bad guy and save their home?

10. "Robin Hood" - 1973

"Robin Hood" is without a doubt an underrated Disney classic. Disney tells the age-old story of Robin Hood from the perspective that only Disney could offer.

11. "Sword in the Stone" - 1963

"The Sword in the Stone" is Disney's retelling of the legend that is King Arthur, Merlin, and Excalibur. This movie has all the magic and comedy you need to make it a must see.

12. "Bolt" - 2008

While "Bolt" was technically a successful film, it is wildly unrecognized. It has an all-star cast, a unique plot, and a powerful message. Also, who wouldn't want to hear an incredible duet between Miley Cyrus and John Travolta?

Some other Disney movies that didn't quite make the cut include "Hercules," "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," "The Emperor's New Groove," and "The Aristocats." Of course, Disney has put out tons of incredible movies all of which are amazing and need to be seen (except "Pocahontas 2," that one should stay unknown). What are some of your favorites?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
