Christina Yang of "Grey's Anatomy" said it best: "She’s my person. If I murdered someone, she’s the person I’d call to help me drag the corpse across the living room floor. She’s my person." A little dramatic, yes (or maybe not), but we all know what it’s like to have that one person. Here are 12 times you just know you’ve found your person.
1. You consult them before making any major (or very, very minor) life decisions.
No text will be sent, no shade will be thrown, no job will be applied for, and no decision will be made until you get their approval first.
2. It’s not possible for you to stay mad at each other.
You bicker like an old married couple and constantly drag each other through the mud, but at the end of the day, it usually doesn’t take more than 47 minutes to decide to reconcile. This is usually because you just have to post that cute puppy video on their Facebook timeline, or because a catastrophe is about to happen and you need a consultation STAT.
3. People associate you with one another.
Two peas in a pod, a package deal. When you’re not together, it’s like the world is about to come crashing down. Heck, the whole solar system might as well be off kilter. People treat you walking to class separately like they should treat a volcanic eruption.
4. You have too many inside jokes to count.
You both know who Burt is, and it’s not who you’d think. The phrase “beef jerky and prime rib” is enough to make the two of you burst out into uncontrollable laughter. The best part is, no one else knows why these things are in the least bit relevant.
5. Every last secret has been shared.
They know who freshman-year-of-high-school-John is, they know where you hide your favorite snacky snacks in your dorm, they even know your iPhone password and you’re not scared they’ll take 14,000 selfies when you’re not looking. That’s true love right there.
6. They surprise you with food and drinks.
It’s 11 p.m. and you’re working vigorously on a paper that’s due in an hour. Your dinner is wearing off, but there’s absolutely no time to do anything but write. You hear a knock on your dorm door and contemplate not answering it, but something tells you that you must. You crack open the door and see your person standing out there with a bag full of Cadbury Eggs and a Diet Coke. Angels are real.
7. You have “your” TV shows.
Not a single episode will be watched without both of you being in attendance. Binge watching and cuddle sessions are required.
8. They’re there when you have meltdowns.
“Come back to my room, I’m having meltdown." We’ve all either sent or received a text like that as some point or another. It doesn’t matter if the meltdown is simply a rant or a full fledged, stage five apocalypse-like anger or sadness induced rage, they’ll be there as fast as you can say, “Could you please also bring some Ben and Jerry’s?"
9. Sleepovers are a common occurrence.
It’s not true friendship until you accidentally fall asleep together on the couch with no blankets and miraculously both sleep comfortably all night. Or you decide to sleep together because you can’t fathom the thought of being separated for eight hours.
10. They yell at you when necessary.
Seriously though, where would we all be without that one person who keeps us in check? Being too dramatic? They’ll let you know. Acting like a bitch? Rest assured, they’ll tell you. It’s nice to know that there will always be someone to keep you grounded when all you want to do is be a complete diva.
11. You’ve gone to the ER together at least once.
If not, you two are living some seriously boring lives. (Hark back to the time she split her head open on a frat house window, the time you got a bad case of bronchitis, and the time she almost plummeted through her dorm room window and had to get stitches in both arms.)
12. You ask yourself how you lived before you met them.
I mean, it basically feels like when they leave, all you do is wait for them to come back. How did you possibly go about living your life without them? All you know is that you never, ever in a million years want that to happen again.
