College is amazing. Getting to sleep as much--who I am kidding--as little as you want, eat whenever, set your own schedule, and having a wonderful time with friends is a great blessing. It challenges you to learn, adapt, plan, and just go with the flow. You get to tackle each new day with a new mindset and a new perspective...if you got enough sleep. All of this can be great but it can also be tiring. One of my favorite shows from childhood was "Drake and Josh." After looking at some old pictures and memes, I realized that this show that I used to watch perfectly sums up college and my life now. So here are 10 times when "Drake and Josh" captured the college life!
1. When you realize that exercise is important.
Between balancing all your classes, homework, food, friends, activities, and sleep, you barely have time to do anything else. But make sure to leave time for exercise; it is a good way to relax and stay in good shape.
2. When class presentations or job interviews are stressful.
We all know the feeling. You prepared for the presentation or the interview, you put on your best clothes, and now it's time to give it your all. It is going so well until you actually start speaking to people....gosh the room can be awfully warm. It will be okay, you can do it.
3. When a professor assigns a mountain of homework that is due at the beginning of the next class.
Professors, I have one question for you: "WHY?!?!?!?!" Your class is not the only class that I have and I have many other responsibilities. I'll get to your homework at some point...once I conquer the other mountains of homework for my 4 or 5 other classes.
4. When you don't do the assigned reading for a class and there is a pop quiz.
We have all been there and if not, you are a really lucky person....or you have way too much time on your hands. That feeling of not knowing the answers is the worst. Oh well, maybe next time you'll do the reading....haha just kidding.
5. When you and your roommate are so over homework that you find fun things to do.
You are both sitting at your desks or on your beds. Each of you have been studying forever. You look up, make eye contact, and the next thing you know, you're doing something crazy. Then you find yourself laughing hysterically and having loads of fun with your roommate! Pillow fights and spontaneous dance parties are the best.
5. When you know to always take advantage of free things. Especially food.
#1 favorite word of any college student: FREE!! Free t-shirts, free socks, free scarves, free tuition--okay, not quite--and best of all, free food! Take advantage of all the free things!
6. When you do things that you will regret later.
College allows you to truly be yourself and try new things. Make sure that whatever you do, think it through first and be smart about your choice.
7. When your professor explains a new concept and you don't understand.
Class is going well and then all of a sudden, your professor states that they are going to introduce a new topic or method. They do so and you're like "Yeah, I got nothin'."
8. When you are trying to study....
9. ...and your roommate just isn't helping the cause.
Thanks for all the distractions, roomie!
10. When you do well on an exam.
You feel great when you hand in the test and a few days later, you get it back with a good great! Look; all your hard work paid off! Go you!
11. When you start--and finish -- an assignment before the due date.
You worked hard, my friend! Good job being productive!
12. And finally, when you reach that point during the semester when you just don't care anymore.
We have all been there, are there, or will be there very shortly.
