As the Thanksgiving atmosphere is in the air, you see your little brothers and sisters bringing home school projects about what they are most thankful for. You read them and see the same things all the time; Mom making dinner, Dad buying you a Play Station 4 or your sister driving you around to all of your extracurricular activities. When you get to college, you realize all of the things you miss and all of the things that you are used to at home. Here are some things that most people forget to be thankful for.
1. A car
Most people often forget that cars are not cheap and they are used on a day to day basis. If you drive to work and one morning, your car doesn't turn on, you feel like the world is going to end. Walking 20 minutes to class isn't as appealing as it sounds. It is not easy to get and maintain a car so it is definitely something we should all be thankful for.
2. Your mom doing your laundry
When you get to college, you are on your own with the whole laundry situation. Mom can't throw in a load for you while you go work out anymore. You have to do it yourself. I know right? Bummer.
3. Your siblings being your waiter
We all have those moments when we want to change the channel on the television but we're too lazy to get up from the sofa and get the remote ourselves. So, we ask our younger siblings.
4. The roof over your head
Often times, people forget that others don't have a home to go to at the end of the day. Your parents working hard and providing the roof over your head is a privilege and you should be thankful for that
5. Your friends
Sometimes we take all of the wonderful people we meet in our hometowns or college for granted, but we shouldn't. They are all special one way or another and they mean more than you would think. Even though most people forget to be thankful for them, doesn't mean you should!
6. Your past
Good or bad, everything that has happened to you has happened for a reason and it has made you who you are. Whether it was good or bad, it still changed you and because of it, you might be this strong and independent person or you might be this shy and timid person. No matter what, you should always be thankful for it because you wouldn't be you without it!
7. The food you eat
Not many people realize that they are lucky to eat three meals a day and that they or their parents are able to afford it. Everyone should be thankful for the food they eat.
8. Your family
These are the people that you have gotten used to ever since you were born. You don't really think about what life would be like without them because you see them everyday and you are used to all of the things they do and say. Not everyone has a family so never take it for granted.
9. Your sink
Whether it's the one in the kitchen that yo use to wash the dishes or the one in the sink that you use to brush your teeth and wash your hands, not many people remember that it's a privilege and that not everyone gets to have one.
10. Your bed
Every single college student can vouch for this. When you're sitting in class at 8 in the morning, all you think about is that bed of yours and how awesome it would be if you could bring it along with you to class in the mornings. We forget how sacred this is to us and it is something we should ALWAYS be thankful for.
11. Your mom constantly bugging you
Let's be real, if your mom didn't tell you to call your doctor to make an appointment one thousand times, you would forget. Even though she may get on your last nerve at times, you have to be thankful that she gets annoying once in a while because your life would fall apart if she wasn't.
12. Waking up every morning
