12 Things That Happen When Your Pet is Also Your BFF

To some of us, our pets are more than just animals that live with us- they're also our best friends! Here's 12 things that people who are shamelessly BFF's with their pets will recognize:

1. You talk on the phone / FaceTime with your pet when you're away

"Mom, can you hand the phone to Rover now? I need to talk to him."

2. You have zero qualms about buying pricey "unnecessary" items for your animal BFF

The comfort of your dog/cat/exotic animal/rodent/ bird has no price. Additionally, you plan out your future dream home with your pet's needs in mind.

3. You know that a pet-friendly vacation is the best kind of vacation

A vacation becomes a hundred times more fun when you can bring your BFF along with you. Here's a list of some pet-friendly hotels.

4. You make home-made goodies for your furry/scaly/feathery BFF

Home-made healthy pet treats! They're usually much healthier than store-bought treats.

5. Affording vet care isn't a big issue, because you'd rather sell your soul than let your companion suffer

$200 for a single vet visit might seem expensive to others, but not to you. You can't let your best buddy lie in bed sick all day!

6. If you have more than one pet, you feel guilty about having one that you favor

"Is it okay if she has your bed? Hers isn't big enough."

7. You ugly cry when animals die in movies while not really caring about the human characters

You refuse to watch movies you know include animal deaths because you know they'll bring you more emotional trauma than it's worth.

8. A tattoo honoring your best friend doesn't seem strange and you'll probably get one...

They left a mark on your heart---why not make it permanent with ink? Which reminds me, I need to save my ferret's paw prints...

9. You bring them to the pet store to pick out their own toys and treats

"I found it, I liked it, it's mine now."

10. You celebrate their birthday/Adoption day

Your pet deserves a party complete with balloons, presents, and their favorite kinds of food.

11. You dress them up

Gotta stay fashionable.

12. You know time with them is well-spent

Whether it was a day spent at the park with your mutt, an evening cuddling and watching movies with your ferret or rats, or a night of your cat pressed against you and purring loudly, you cherish the time spent with your animal companion. To them, you are their whole world, and you strive to give them a lifetime free of pain, and full of love and play.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
