Moms were put on Earth to care for, guide, and nurture us. Without them, we'd be lost. I'm thankful for every lesson that my mom ever taught me. These thirteen are a handful of lessons that I still live by today.
1. If they'll gossip to you, they'll gossip about you.
While this is not true for every friend you have, it is very common. If you find yourself listening to a friend tell you more of another person's business than their own, you might want to reconsider how much you tell them.
2. The worst thing can tell you is "no."
Whenever I'm worried about asking someone a question, my mom always tells me that I'll never know unless I ask. A "no" is followed by asking my mom for more advice.
3. Always hear it from the source.
Who knows better than the original source? Whenever I'm confused about an assignment, my mom always suggests going straight to the professor rather than send out a mass email to the whole class.
4. Your education is important.
Education has always been an important value in my household and something my mom has pushed me to always further.
5. The world doesn't revolve around you.
We've all had those days where we turn into a complete drama queen and wonder why the world acts against us, but we can always count on Mom to drag us back to reality.
6. You're smarter than you think.
College is always making us second guess our intelligence level.
7. Not everybody deserves second chances.
This usually applies to friendships. Moms can spot out a fake friend within seconds of meeting them.
8. Know your worth.
My parents always treated me the best so that I would expect nothing less.
9. Being dramatic won't solve anything.
We've all been there: bawling our eyes out on the phone, begging her to let you quit whatever it is that is making you feel inferior, but your mom is always there to remind you that time spent crying could be time spent improving your situation.
10. You are your worst critic.
I am the first to admit that I am very hard on myself when it comes to something that normally I excel at, like school or baking. Luckily, my mom is always the voice of reason to remind that it's okay to not be perfect at everything.
11. Sometimes you're the problem.
Whenever several factors in my life are going wrong, my mom will tell me to take a step back and consider what role I'm playing in the situation.
12. Unconditional love.
No matter how frustrating I am, I know that my mom will always love me, no matter what. Thanks to my mom, I know how to love other people, wholeheartedly and unconditionally.
If you're lucky enough to still have your mom with you, share this article, hug and thank her for everything that she has taught you.
