Appreciating the little things every day.

12 Things I've Made, That Make Me A Better Me
Kaitlynn Kleinbach

It's all in the little things. I have recently been trying to work on a habit of making a daily list of goals for myself. On that list I try to include things to work on for my physical and mental health, little things I want to do for and with people and tasks to be completed. These lists have helped to keep me a bit more organized and accountable for myself and my friends and family. I also find that I feel awesome at the end of the day if I have accomplished some or all of my goals.

I think it is healthy to push yourself, even a little. I personally want to work on certain things in my life and working on these goals will be applicable to accomplishing bigger goals in the future. I believe that the little things count, so here are some of my favorite little things that I have set as a daily goal that may inspire you too.

1. Make Some Music

My youngest sister is very musical, and my other sister and I like to pretend we are. But it is still fun to mess around on the piano and try and remember old songs we once knew. Playing, listening to and making music is good for the soul.

2. Make Something You're Proud Of

My best friend and our moms had a craft night where we all made our own string and nail art project. This is a mountain range; hopefully it is distinguishable. It is so great to use my hands to make something that I think looks interesting, while spending time with my favorites.

3. Make A Garden

Plants are the best! Watching and taking care of something that I think is so beautiful is so much fun. They're gorgeous and bring lots of pretty friends to the yard.

4. Make Some Art

Again, my youngest sister with the talents. Julia is an incredible artist as this picture clearly displays it, but I think it is great to let your hand be free on a paper every once and a while to relax and see what your mind might come up with.

5. Make Something Yummy

Brownies. Yes. Always a good choice.

6. Make Something Out Of Nothing

Although I wouldn't necessarily call driftwood, shells and other thingamabobs nothing, I found these along a beach by my friend's house, and I turned them into a wind chime that I will never actually put outside because I'm too scared it will break. But the possibilities are endless, there are so many interesting things laying on the ground that are just asking to be turned into your next Pinterest creation.

7. Make A Friend

It is easy to get comfortable with the (great) friends that we already have, but it is important to make new ones too. Checking in with old friends, being intentional about making new friends, can be daunting but it is rewarding.

8. Make Your Bed

It takes a few extra minutes in the morning, but coming home to a nicely made bed feels awesome. Looks awesome too.

9. Make Someone Smile

Making someone smile is something that I try to do every day. I am lucky that I work with my best friend and she thinks I'm funny so I usually can accomplish this, but it feels good to make someone else feel good too. Spread the love, show some gratitude.

10. Make Yourself Go Outside

Scorching days can be discouraging when going outside equates to instant discomfort. But, taking time to enjoy the nature that we are so lucky to have can brighten even the most sweltering of days.

11. Make Some Time For Reading

Taking some time to read your Bible, or whatever book suits your fancy, you'll feel better after doing it.

12. Make Some Time To Appreciate Where You Come From

Taking a step back, looking at where I live and appreciating where I grew up and the people in it.

Focusing daily on the things in life that make me who I am, and realizing daily how blessed I am has given me strength in the chaotic world that is buzzing around every day. I want to continue working on being intentional in building relationships, being creative, and loving myself, my friends and family to the fullest capacity.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
