I worked at a gym for three years, it was one of the most entertaining jobs to say the least. I loved it; I had regular people that would come while I worked, it was amazing. My whole college life people would always be like "you are the girl who works at the gym, right?" Yes, I was and I wouldn't change that for the world. Thanks GCU Fitness Center for an awesome three years. Here are some things I learned during my time there:
1. Grunting while lifting weights really does make you stronger.
Excuse me sir, we all know you are there.
2. The more you look in the mirror the more results you will have.
Don't forget to check yourself out, something may have changed in the last 2 minutes.
3. If you come in a large group, you will get more done.
Don't forget that gym selfie. #squadgoals
4. Blasting T Swift will help you get those gains.
No one ever admits it but they all jam out to a Taylor Swift song every once in a while.
5. The more "gym lingo" you use, the cooler you will look.
"Come on Bro, let's go get those gains" or "Woah dude, you look so swole."
6. If you bring a gallon of water with you, people will know you are serious about working out.
This is a true fact, you look even cooler if it is pink instead of clear.
7. Disney music is not preferred gym music.
I was known for playing the Disney Pandora station during those 6am shifts. It always ended with someone not so politely asking me to turn it off.
8. Gym etiquette does not include putting your weights away.
Thank you large man for leaving a 75 pound weight on the floor, I know you can lift it so thank you for challenging me to lift it and put it away for you.
9. Cutting the sleeves off of your shirt is a must.
If you don't they will probably just end up ripping off anyway, you know from all the arm workouts you are doing.
10. Protein powder is way better when it smells like a candle.
French toast, vanilla, chocolate, OH MY!
11. Going to the gym isn't a hobby, its a lifestyle.
It takes hard core planning, in-depth meal prep, and clothing coordination.
12. "Gym People" are the best!
I absolutely love the friendships and relationships that I made with the people at the gym
