Our roommates are our families away from home. They are our best friends, and we would be lost without them. Sometimes we take the things they do for us for granted, and here are some of the things we all need to thank them for:
1. Not judging us when we can't quite find the motivation to get out of bed on certain days.
Those lazy Sundays where you just want to lay in bed and watch "Friends" all day.
2. Helping us decide what outfit we're going to wear on a night out.
Outfit after outfit after outfit. They all look perfectly fine, but we end up back at the first outfit we put on.
3. Wearing one another's clothes when our own closet isn't looking as appealing.
There's always that one friend who's closet everyone seems to migrate too. We all have more than enough clothes, but sometimes it's just nice to wear someone else's.
4. Delivering our snacks on those days we can't leave our beds.
When we're stuck in our beds we are bound to get hungry and need a snack. But we can't leave our bed. It must suck to live alone. Who would deliver your Animal Crackers?
5. Letting each other sing in the shower even though we're all tone deaf.
The shower makes you sound better, right?
6. Not even flinching when one of us accidentally leaves our underwear on the bathroom floor.
This happened this morning and I didn't even think twice about it. I just tried to figure out who's underwear it was.
7. Being OK with the odd things we all do on a daily basis.
Sometimes you have to play music while you go to the bathroom because you're, you know, shy. And that is totally OK.
8. For watching those shows together that nobody else likes.
For my roommates and I, it's "The Kardashians," every Sunday. But we all have that one show we watch with our roommates and we love it.
9. Not making fun of the lisp we acquire when we put our retainers in at night.
Retainers suck but we all have them, and none of us can speak normally with them in no matter how hard we try.
10. Understanding when we're cranky and having a bad day and just need to be left alone.
We all have our bad days, and our roommates know how to cheer us up. They also know when we're past the point of being cheered up and we just need to be left alone.
11. Listening to the never-ending issues of our daily life.
Roommates are always there to listen whether they want to or not because they live there too and they can't leave, so they're obligated to listen to our problems. We know they would listen anyway, though (I hope).
12. Making us laugh like no other every single day.
Nobody on planet Earth makes me laugh harder than my roommates, and I am so thankful for that.
I love you guys forever, xoxo, gossip girl (that was for you Alex).
