The day to give and receive thanks is just around the corner. Families grow closer, the quality of a home-cooked meal becomes crucial, and for one day out of the entire year we think about life beyond ourselves. How special is that? With Thanksgiving comes many itching questions, but here are just a handful that leave most of us in deep thought.
1) Who will be the one to say grace? Don't call on me -- avoid all eye contact!
2) Will jeans, leggings, or a dress provide the most comfort for all the food that the night entails? I guess we will just have to find out.
3) How fast am I able to gather enough food to cover my entire plate? Let's make it a challenge.
4) Who will be the first relative to ask if I am yet to be in a relationship? It's bound to happen eventually, right?
5) Does this meal count towards my "Freshman Fifteen?" Slowly but surely, the numbers are adding up. But please cut me some slack.
6) How well can I pull off being a stress-free college student to my family? I don't want them worrying too much.
7) Am I really full enough to finish eating? Of course not, I'll just give myself a little break to breathe.
8) How many babies will I be holding tonight? And how many dogs will I find myself snuggling with? Spreading a little love with a full belly could not be any more satisfying.
9) What is the difference between white turkey meat and dark turkey meat? This is actually a very serious matter and I would appreciate an answer.
10) Can I please stay home for a few more weeks? Please mom, I've missed you and your cooking all too much.
11) Where's the nearest pumpkin pie? Or any pie for that matter?
12) How can I put into words how thankful I am for the life I live, and the family that loves me endlessly? One day to give thanks just isn't enough.
