We all know that Taylor Swift writes tons of songs about the guys she’s dated. Her albums are full of clues about which guy this song or that song is about. It’s one of the tabloid’s favorite past times to guess which ex each song is about. Every once in a while though, TSwift will come out with a song that hits home about a guy that you know or maybe dated. These songs are about every type of guy you can imagine, so here are a few of them.
1) “Style”
You’ll always go back to him even though all your friends and family tell you every time that it’s a terrible idea. You know who I’m talking about. The one that only calls after 11 p.m. but you still answer when his name graces your phone screen. Maybe it’s the slicked back hair. Maybe it’s the white t-shirt. I blame James Dean for starting all of this.
2) “Bad Blood”
You used to be madly in love, but then he screwed it up. You had some really good times. You actually trusted this guy, but the bad blood between you now means that all of those problems won’t be solved. His loss.
3) “I Knew You Were Trouble”
You knew from the beginning that he was a bad idea. You just couldn’t help yourself. His carefree attitude towards everything kind of let you know that he wouldn’t care about you either, but you dated him anyways. His smile was just too irresistible. When he left, you felt terrible, but the light at the end of the tunnel is realizing that it wasn’t you. He will never love anyone or anything but himself. He’s just trouble.
4) “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”
You guys have had so many fights, and you always take him back after he promises that he’s really going to change this time. The more distance you get from the situation, the more you realize that he doesn’t deserve your time or energy. That’s why you two are never getting back together. Like… ever.
5) “Red”
You can never really regret dating this guy no matter how badly it ended because while you were dating him, you had so much fun. Everything was so easy until it ended. Then, you felt an entire rainbow of emotions that only Taylor Swift could put into words. She made you realize the feelings even you didn’t know you felt. You may even feel a twinge of that red every once in a while.
6) “Back to December”
You will always have feelings for this guy, even if it’s just as a friend. You miss just hanging out with his family. You realize that your breakup was your fault, and you regret the way it all ended. When your mind wanders in the early morning hours, it’s always him that it goes back to and what could have been done differently. You still wish you could call him up and apologize.
7) “Mean”
The one that decided to bad mouth you after the breakup. You took the high road and shook it off. At the end of the day, you know that you will be successful and happy in life. Him on the other hand… just hope he enjoys doing the same things with the same people he was with in high school for the rest of his life.
8) “You Belong With Me”
Okay, so he’s not technically an ex considering you guys may never have dated, but you totally should have. Everyone could see that you should have, except him and his cheerleader girlfriend. You knew him better than anyone else and your phone was full of ugly selfies that he took on it. She never deserved him, but unfortunately for him, he never realized that.
9) “The Way I Loved You”
Even though you may be with a more stable guy now, you still miss him. The passion between you was undeniable, but unfortunately you guys were like a match. You burned so brightly but for such a short amount of time. If you could just find one of the nice guys with the same amount of passion, you’d be set.
10) “Teardrops on my Guitar”
Another one that was probably one of your best guy friends that you always had a crush on that was too stupid to realize it. You listened to him tell you all about his crush and gave him advice on how to get her. Behind closed doors you blasted this song at some point.
Side note: The guy in the video, Tyler Hilton, is also an amazing musician that I’ve had the pleasure of meeting quite a few times, so go check out his stuff.
11) “Picture to Burn”
The breakup that was so bad, you don’t even want to remember it. You now hate everything about him, even that “stupid, old” truck that you still secretly want to drive. The relationship went up in smoke, just like all the picture of you guys in that bonfire you had the next week. That’s okay though, you told all of your friends that he’s gay and dated his best friend.
12) “Tim McGraw”
There’s that one song that makes you think of him. You wonder if it makes him think of you, too. You hear it and it takes you back to that point in time with him. You hear it on the radio, and you’re that 16-year-old girl head-over-heels with her summer love all over again.
