12 Stages Of Not Knowing What To Write About

Let’s face it. We’ve all been in that situation when we've needed to write something, only to have no idea what to write about. Or even where to start for that matter. No matter what you have to write about, if you can’t even figure out where to begin, here are a few things that have probably happened to you.

1. You do everything in your power to forget the assignment and procrastinate.

Partly because you thinking about it just stresses you out. Partly because you haven’t given up hope that you’ll come up with a brilliant idea in the middle of the night.

2. You come with all kinds of reasons as to why you haven't started yet.

Whether it be food, sleep, or another commitment, you're willing to do almost anything to avoid writing.

3. Once you realize that the due date is approaching, you sit down at your computer to finally start.

But instead of writing, somehow you end up watching Netflix for three hours. Whoops?

4. Once that last episode is finally over, you just stare at the blank screen, still waiting for that source of inspiration.

No matter how much "Grey's Anatomy" you watch, once you've finished the episode, you're still just stuck with no ideas and another cup of coffee.

5. All at once, you have a bright idea, and you begin vigorously typing away.

Here's to hoping that it's something brilliant!

6. You feel that sense of accomplishment once you finally write your first paragraph.

After all, it only took two weeks, three days, and seven hours to get this far.

7. Then you immediately delete it to go in a different direction instead.

Even though you're experiencing some major writers block, you still don't want to settle for just mediocre writing.

8. You begin to panic as you see others making major progress.

When they ask you how your writing is coming along, you try to avoid the entire topic as best as you can.

9. You start to frantically write as you see the deadline looming in front of you.

You seriously consider just not writing anything at all. But no, that's not a good idea, and you do really need to get it done.

10. There's nothing like knowing you only have three hours left to crank out a masterpiece to get those fingers moving.

If only those good ideas would come faster.

11. All of the sudden it's like you can't type fast enough.Your brain is on a roll, and your fingers are struggling to keep up.

Hooray for things starting to move!

12. After countless hours editing and rewriting, you finally have something that you're proud of.

To top it all off, your work turned out much better than you thought it would.

Congrats, you did it!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine.
