12 Songs That Can Unlock Your Wanderlust
Adriana Bennett

Music is inspiring. It can bring out emotions like sadness, love, and happiness; it can even bring out your dreams. Everyone has a little wanderlust in them, whether you’re like my mother who wants to visit places in America or like me who wants to visit every country in the world (North Korea might be a little difficult though). When I’m traveling somewhere, I have a playlist that I listen to religiously. The songs calm my nerves, but at the same time keep my excitement pumping. When I’m not traveling, I still listen to the songs. They not only remind me of my dreams to travel, but they also give me the urge to jump on a plane and go anywhere. Here are a few of my favorites:

12. "See the World" by The Kooks

“Do you want to see the world?”

11. "Scare Away the Dark" by Passenger

“We should run through the forest. We should swim in the streams. We should laugh, we should dream. We should stare at the stars and not just the screens.”

10. "Little Wanderer" by Death Cab for Cutie

“You sent a photo out your window of Tokyo, told me you were doing fine. You said the cherry blossoms were blooming and that I was on your mind.”

9. "The Longer I Run" by Peter Bradley Adams

“Well this road I’m on is gonna turn to sand, and leave me lost in a far off land. So let me ride the wind till I don’t look back, and forget the life that I almost had.”

8. "Wanderlust" by Frank Turner

“Darling, I’m leaving. The distance is calling me on. Darling, come morning I’ll be gone.”

7. "Tokyo Sunrise" by LP

“Someday in the sky we’ll see the same sun on the rise yeah. Wherever you go, far as Tokyo.”

6. "Vagabond" by MisterWives

“Vagabond is you, ran the mile no shoes. If the sun goes down too soon. Embrace the starry eyed moon. Vagabond is you, swam the sea at the darkest blue.”

5. "Wait" by M83

“Send your dreams where nobody hides. Give your tears to the tide.”

4. "Stop and Stare" by OneRepublic

“I’ve got my heart set on anywhere, but here. I’m staring down myself, counting up the years. Steady hands take the wheel, and every glance is killing me. Time to make one last appeal for the life I lead.”

3. "On Top of the World" by Imagine Dragons

“Waiting on this for a while now, paying my dues to the dirt. I’ve been waiting to smile, ‘ay. Been holding it in for a while, ‘ay. Take you with me if I can, been dreaming of this since a child. I’m on top of the world.”

2. "Keep Your Eyes Open" by Needtobreathe

“Cause if you never leave home, never let go. You’ll never make it to the great unknown till you keep your eyes open, my love. So show me your fire, show me your heart.”

1. "Ends of the Earth" by Lord Huron

“Oh, there’s a river that winds on forever, I’m gonna see where it leads. Oh, there’s a mountain that no man has mounted, I’m gonna stand on the peak."

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
