During college, you will have good and bad roommate experiences. Whatever your roommate experience is remember, if it’s good it is wonderful and if it’s bad it is a great story to tell. But to the best roommates, thank you for being my biggest confidant, my therapist, my stylist, and my best friend.
1. They Respect Your Things
Although you are roommates and you share the same space that does not mean you share everything. A good roommate would always ask to borrow or use something because that’s just manners, obviously.
2. They Know When It’s Quiet Time
There is a time for talking and then there is a time to be quiet and get work done and a truly good roommate knows the difference. It is not a party every night (at least not in my room) and quiet is needed to do work.
3. They Share Food
Roommates, who share food together, stay together. Enough said.
4. They Tolerate Mood Swings
College can be a very high stress environment so it's impossible to be in a good mood all the time but your roommate knows that and loves you anyway.
5. They Are There For 2 a.m. Breakdowns
Because college is hard, ok?
6. They Keep the Dorm Clean
They never leave a dirty dish sitting there for more than 2 hours max, they take out the trash, and the room looks semi presentable when you walk in; all signs you got it good.
7. They Never Let You Leave In A Bad Outfit
They are forever your personal stylist and would never let you leave the room looking like a train wreck. Then when they decide to pick your outfit for the night, you are surprised by how good you actually look. #FeelinMyself
8. They Are Always Down For Late Night Eats
A roommate that is always down to order cheesy bread from Dominoes at 2 a.m. is a keeper. If you aren’t a fellow foodie, the roommate situation isn't going to work out sorry.
9. They Force You To Go To The Gym
Everyone needs a workout buddy to get them up at 7:15 for an early morning workout because if they won’t do it, who will? This is a true roommate goal.
10. They Help You Make Decisions
Red shirt or blue shirt with this skirt, I can’t decide. What should I text him back? What should I put for this English question? All valid questions and needed assistance of your roommate who somewhat has their s*** together more than you.
11. They Know Good Music
Blasting Taylor Swift after a long day on the homework grind, they know the deal.
12. They Are Always There For You
Whether it is 2 p.m. or 2 a.m. a good roommate is always there. Thank god, because we would be totally lost without them.
