Whether you went completely random or you knew your roommate before school somehow, it is safe to say that your experience with your first roommate is really something else. There are many instances where roommates become best friends, and then there are others where they may say two words a day to each other. Sometimes roommates may decide that the situation is not working out and part ways during the first month of college. While this is unfortunate, it is usually for the best.
I struck gold with my first roommate. We knew each other from high school and were friends, but not best friends. This was probably the best choice I could've made. The number of crazy memories, inside jokes and just all around great times we've had this year have been incredible.
Here are twelve signs that you have also had great luck with your roommate experience:
1. You have been enlightened to a completely different taste of music.
2. You can look at your roommate at any given time and have at least some idea of what they are thinking about.
3. You both have most of the same stories to tell when going back home.
Hopefully, you don't have the same friends from back home.
4. You both have plenty of hilarious photos of the other person; you never know when you'll need them.
To my roommate, don't worry man, I won't post them here.
5. You might be able to tell what the other person will say in a conversation.
This happens by the minute.
6. You know each other's sleep schedules without thinking about it.
This helps when you need to know if the room will be quiet, or if you need to make a trek to the library.
7. You rely on each other when waking up for class, however, it's usually only one of you.
8. You probably have multiple small jokes that no one else understands.
These are much too complicated to share in such a small article, but to the readers, hopefully, you know what I'm attempting to describe. In fact, you probably have a few of these in mind right now.
9. You most likely have secret nicknames for everyone you know in your building.
10. You always have someone to eat with no matter what.
11. You have explored the secrets of UHall together.
12. You always have someone to spot you at the rec.
Here's to the rest of your year with your roommate and hopefully best friend!
