12 Unmistakeable Signs You're The Middle Child
Tweens2teen

Older and younger siblings may think they have it made, but when it comes to order of birth the middle child is where it’s at. There is no mistaking a middle child, they stick out like a sore thumb. They can usually be found wearing 10-year-old hand-me downs and being called the wrong name by their own mom (my mom called me Bob one time, the name of my dead cat). Here are some signs that prove you are most definitely the middle child.

1. You've for sure been lost/left somewhere at some point in your life.

The classic mix-up between parents where both of them think the other parent has you. Yeah, that’s what they always say. Face it, they forgot you. Middle child.

2. You're very independent.

You aren’t needy or really a homebody. You do your own thing and check in with your parents every few months or so, just so they know you’re still breathing.

3. Getting less attention actually makes you stronger.

Being a middle child has a bad rep because you don’t always get the same attention (especially from parents) as the older or younger siblings. Honestly, you should feel blessed that you weren't put on a pedestal or coddled like the classic baby of the family. It makes you stronger.

4. Everything you own is a hand-me-down.

What’s a store? Never heard of it. My shirt is from this cool place called the bottom of my older sister’s closet.

5. Your older sibling(s) got recognized for everything.

Every square inch of my refrigerator at home growing up was covered with my genius brother’s straight A assignments. Like come on I don’t need that kind of negativity in my life every time I’m trying to get a Go-gurt out of the fridge.

6. Your younger sibling got away with everything.

They can do no wrong. You will never understand so just accept it.

7. You have tough skin.

I mean that literally and figuratively because I personally was the punching bag for my siblings both physically and emotionally. Don’t worry, fending off both your older and younger sibling at the same time only makes you stronger.

8. You fly under the radar.

And it is a beautiful thing sometimes. Other times not so much, like when your whole family just completely forgets you exist.

9. Your siblings’ best friends are your best friend.

And your siblings hate it which makes it even better.

10. You're the weird one in the family.

You have to stand out somehow so you’re just weird af. I most certainly am.

11. You're known as X's younger sibling or X's older sibling.

"omg are you ___'s sister?"

12. You instantly know when someone else is a middle child.

It's like a sixth sense, you just know.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
