Georgia. The state I call my own. I love it dearly, despite its little flaws. It is where I grew up. It is the place I currently call home. A problem I have with Georgia is it's completely bipolar weather. People who grow up in Georgia know this struggle and have mastered the art of dealing with it. Some people can not, however, deal with the chaos that is Georgia's weather, for many reasons.
1. We basically freak whenever we see one flake of snow hit the ground.
The white cold devil is something we dread every year. We are not prepared for snow and never will be.
2. Scratch that: this place SHUTS down when a blanket of white covers the ground. Anyone remember Snowmageddon in 2014? I like to file that under dark days.
I am pretty sure I didn't have power for like a week. The snow became my worse enemy.
3. Cold at the start of the week? Be prepared for it to be 100 degrees at the end.
There is a reason I have t-shirts, shorts, jeans and sweaters all in my car. Not because I am a traveling gypsy, but because the weather has made me prepare for any kind of situation.
4. One word: layers. Key to surviving any day.
5. The summers are blazing and the humidity hates everyone.
6. It rains on the days you have to look nice. Guaranteed.
7. The cold is not as bad as some states but cold enough where everyone has to complain about it.
8. It can be so hot that you sweat 50 pounds off of your body. Need to go to the gym? Just step outside, you will be fine.
I swear I try to live in the pool in the summer to just deal with the heat.
9. NO ONE CAN DRIVE IN THE RAIN. IT. IS. JUST. WATER.
When that water falls from the sky, it is like everyone reverted back to being a 16 year old driver with a brand new license.
10. Wind and rain are actually lethal combinations. Stay indoors all day if you can when this happens.
11. If it is doing something out the ordinary like hail, just give up.
12. You get that nice day every once in a while. Enjoy while it lasts because it is a rare occurrence.
Cherish it. Don't go to any of your classes and lay outside.
Weather. It may unpredictable, but it is what makes Georgia the state we know and love. May it be rain, sleet or snow, it will always be my home to me.
