12 Reasons Why Your Pet Is The Best Friend You Could Ask For

If you've ever had a pet, you know just how lucky you are to always have someone there at your side when you need them most. For most people their furry friends are more than just pets, they're also best friends. So make sure to thank your pet for all that they do for you. And just in case you need it, here's a list to remind you of all the ways your pet can be your best friend:

1. They always find the best ways to distract you.

Whether you're working on homework or just trying forget the day you had at work, your pet is there. It's almost like they sense you need a distraction (even if you need to get something done). One minute you're working on something and they come up to you needing attention; suddenly, it's three hours later and your still only half a sentence in on your major paper. Sometimes it can be a pain, but other times there's nothing you need more than for the rest of the world to melt away while you spend some quality time with your pet.

2. They make you laugh.

Sometimes their distractions are that they just plain make you laugh. Even if it's because you put a funny costume on them or maybe they got themselves stuck in a funny position, either way you're left with months worth of funny pictures and great story to tell everyone you meet. With all the funny things they do there's no way you can be upset around them.

3. They're your (furry) shoulder to cry on.

When you are upset, though, your pet is right there by your side. It's almost like they know the moment you start to get upset and they'll do whatever they can to make you feel better. And you know that there's no one you'd rather have at your side than your pet and best friend.

4. Its nice to be needed sometimes.

Let's be honest, there something about having someone who needs you as much as you need them that just makes you feel so important. It's like your way of repaying them for all that they do for you, and there's nothing you'd rather do for them (even when they annoy you).

5. They won't judge you, even when they're totally judging you.

No matter what you look like when you leave the house, no matter how bad you sing in the show, or how ridiculously you dance when you're home alone your pet never truly judges you. Sure, sometimes they give you sassy looks and they throw enough shade to lower the temperature by ten degrees, but they never really hold it against you. And you're glad for it, because there's no one you'd rather have see you at your worst.

6. They grow with you.

Your pet has watched you go through some pretty tough stuff, and so have they. You've grown older with them. Both of you have come a long way and learned a lot about each as you've spent more and more time together. If you've had your pet since they were young, you've watched them learn new things and figure out the world, while they've taught you endless lessons in kindness and love.

7. You always have someone to come home to.

Whether they greet you at the door or wait in your favorite seat to keep it warm for you, your pet is always there. You know that even if they don't show it, they're happy to see you. The same goes for every morning, when you wake up. They may be the first face you see, and they can't wait for you to get out of bed (even if it's only because they're excited for food).

8. You're never truly alone.

No matter how many friends you have or what your relationship status is, you'll always have your pet. So who cares that you aren't going out on Friday night with the gang, you'll sit at home with your pet and there's no other way you'd rather have it.

9. They're your biggest fan.

Through thick and thin, your pet has your back. And even if they at home, your pet is right there on the sidelines cheering you on. They want you to succeed even more than you want to succeed, even they have no idea what that means.

10. They're always there to protect you.

Even if the "threat" isn't serious they're right there, ready to pounce. The moment your pet hears a noise, they have to go investigate it. Sure, they say that "curiosity killed the cat" but your pet doesn't care. They need to protect their house and their human from any harm that may come. Despite the fact that sometimes your pet can sometimes be a little too protective, your still thankful (because, you know, just in case).

11. They can save your life.

Animals are incredibly smart, and that includes your pet. They may or might not be a trained service animal, but either way you have no doubt that your pet makes your life worth living which is enough to to save you daily. Plus who knows, maybe your pet is one of those animals who will miraculously learn how to dial 911 or go get help if you fall down a well (whether or not they're named Lassie).

12. They love you, no matter what.

Most of all, your pet loves you and you love them too. Together you can take on the world, even if that means just cuddling for a few hours. You're perfectly happy with doing just that, because after all there's no one you'd rather have by your side than your best furry friend.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
