I started working at Lewis Farm Market several years ago, and now I can’t get enough of the place. Before working there I had only been there a few times. As I got older, I kind of forgot about it until my friend told me to apply for a job. If I had known what they offered before, I would have been so much happier. It’s hard to find a place like Lewis’, especially in a small town. Now I go there on my days off to enjoy the activities and stop in the store to buy goodies. I can’t imagine how I would have turned out if I hadn’t discovered the joys of Lewis’ Farm Market and Petting Farm. Here are a few reasons Lewis' Farm Market is one of the best places to go for a fun day.
1. The beauty: As soon as you step into the petting farm, or see the orchards as you drive by, you see how beautiful it all is. The trees and the orchards, the landscape, even the animals are beautiful.
2. The animals: Lewis' has such a wide range of animals, including exotic animals, that you can’t see at a normal petting zoo. What other places anywhere near here have prairie dogs, zebus, emus, peacocks and camels? Plus so many more friendly, fun animals.
3. Deep fried asparagus: If anybody has any question about whether or not they like asparagus, try the deep fried asparagus at Lewis’. It is the best deep fried asparagus I have ever had.
4. Baked goods and the fudge: If you have ever worked around food, you understand how hard it is not to eat food all day, every day. Looking at the donuts, the cheese bread, and the fudge, all day long, and smelling the delicious aromas is antagonizing. So, next time you’re there, please do me a favor and buy all of the goodies so I don’t have to.
5. Jumping pillows and Pedal Carts: One of the best things about Lewis' Farm Market is the different activities offered. Jumping pillows and pedal carts are a fun family activity that also doubles as a workout. Parents, after all this jumping and pedaling, your children will be very tired.
6. Jeffrey the camel: There aren’t many places around here where you can pet and feed a camel. Jeffrey is a very interesting camel. Come to his birthday party on August 13th and you can see him eat a piece of birthday cake. Every other day, just come see this guy and have a blast feeding him. Just watch out, he likes to take the animal food cups.
7. The cleanliness: Lewis’ is the cleanest petting farm I have ever seen. There aren’t many places with that many animals that are so clean and don’t smell bad.
8. The Bird Aviary: The parakeets are such a fun, hands-on activity. You can walk around with the birds, feed them, and have them land on you. It's great for both kids and adults.
9. The employees: All of the employees try our hardest to be friendly and helpful as much as possible. Not to brag or anything, but there are many visitors who believe our staff is great.
10. The Fall: This is the busiest time of the year for Lewis' Farm Market. There are so many things to do— the corn maze, the apple express ride, apple cannons. Plus the pumpkin patch has some of the best pumpkins around.
11. The Weddings: I really like weddings and Lewis' Orchard Weddings knows how to do it right. The ceremonies and receptions are so beautiful. Besides, how fun would it be to have the reception on a petting farm!
12. The Family Atmosphere and positive energy: There is always a positive energy surrounding the market and petting farm. People of all ages come to enjoy the activities offered and always leave happy. It is always a family friendly place with things for everyone to do.
