I hate regular shopping, but I love exploring consignment/resale/thrift shops. Whatever you personally call them, I think we can all agree that I believe shopping at consignment stores are a totally different experience. It's nothing like the mall folks. It's not even like outlet shopping, it's indescribable fun that's rewarding to both your wallet and your Saturday afternoons.
1. If it looks good, it must be durable.
If it's already lived through 87 washings, it's not going to fall apart on the first trip through the laundry.
2. Everything's a bargain!
Why pay full-price when lightly used is just as good?
3. Everything tells a story.
Who donated Grandma's handknitted sweater? I don't REALLY care because it's mine now!
4. Support your local businesses!
Most consignment shops aren't big-box stores, woohoo! Meet some interesting local characters too...
5. They sell clothes that are IN-SEASON!
Hi Target, I don't want to buy summery stuff in March. Thanks, bye.
6. A $200 designer dress for $25!
Dance party in between the clothing racks!
7. The variety. Stock tends to move fast!
Which makes you return week after week after...
8. Unique finds!
50s costume jewelry. A cowboy belt. Neon sandals! I've never seen anything like it in my life!
9. Can anyone think of a better way to spend a Saturday?
Anyone? Netflix is great and all, but sometimes you just need to leave the house for some retail fun.
10. Try on whole outfits including jewelry, bags, shoes ALL AT ONCE.
You know you'll look fab and perfectly Instagrammable before you leave the store.
11. Buy a gift, knowing they won't have one of those already.
Uniqueness reigns!
12. It's not shopping, it's a adventure and treasure hunt rolled into one!
All hail consignment-shoppers!
