‘Tis the season for seasons, whether it’s pumpkin spice season or, better yet, Halloween season! Even though the Halloween festivities can, unfortunately, distract you from all of the inevitable midterms you have to take, that doesn’t mean that you should be down in the dumps the entire time. Given the fact that Halloween is on a Monday this year, we should celebrate whenever possible—and what better way to start than with a good movie? Without further ado, here are 12 movies to get you into the Halloween spirit.
1. "The Grudge" (2004)
Of course, the movie that scarred me for life has to take the top spot on this list.
2. "Corpse Bride" (2005)
Tim Burton will always make any Halloween movie list, guaranteed.
3. "Halloweentown" (1998)
Nobody can deny that this is one of the best classic Disney franchises of all time.
4. "Paranormal Activity" (2007)
Speaking of franchises, you might as well hop on the “Paranormal Activity” train while there are still only six movies.
5. "The Babadook" (2014)
What’s a scary movie without a classic scary monster?
6. "Beetlejuice" (1988)
If there’s anything to take away from this list, it’s that you at least have to watch the “Day-O” dance scene.
7. "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" (2007)
If you’re into death, gore and musical numbers, this movie is just for you.
8. "The Conjuring" (2013)
An A+ scary film with a side of post-movie paranoia.
9. "The Blair Witch Project" (1999)
The movie that convinced all of us to never, ever, go camping.
10. "Young Frankenstein: (1974)
Featuring the late Gene Wilder, this movie is full of timeless jokes and humor.
11. "Insidious" (2010)
The ending of this movie alone is enough reason for it to be featured on the list.
12. "Hocus Pocus" (1993)
I think I speak for everyone when I say that this movie is the greatest cinematic masterpiece of our generation. No exaggeration.
