We all have those days where we're feeling upset and don't want to actually interact with people. When you're feeling down because of a bad grade, boys, or you're not even sure why, curl up with a blanket and some snacks and turn on one of these movies bound to make you feel better.
1. "She's the Man"
If young Channing Tatum can’t bring a smile to your face, then perhaps the antics of Amanda Bynes posing as her brother (but looking more like a 12-year-old boy) and taking his place in boarding school will. This über-quotable movie and Shakespeare retelling will make you forget about whatever is weighing on your mind. The message that girls can do anything boys can do, and maybe even better, is an added bonus.
2. "10 Things I Hate About You"
Keeping on the theme of updated Shakespeare works, this late ‘90s staple features all the teenage angst, girl drama, lying boys, and happy endings that feel familiar and warm your heart. The fun music, amazing ‘90s fashion, and emotional roller coasters will remind you of all the great parts of being young. Plus, Kat's speech at the end perfectly expresses everything you've ever wanted to say to a guy.
3. "John Tucker Must Die"
This revenge story features an amazing crew of girls that everyone can
relate to. We’ve all known a John Tucker, and these girls flawlessly
accomplish what all of us wish we could have while forming amazing
friendships.
4. "Easy A"
Nothing can make the sun shine brighter like a strong female character owning her label and not caring what others think of her. Also, anything with Emma Stone is guaranteed to be amazing.
5. "Clueless"
Growing up, Cher Horowitz was your fashion icon and closet goals. While I
always found her relationship with her ex-step-brother unsettling, I
love anything with young Paul Rudd during his golden "Friends" era.
6. "The Parent Trap"
You can probably recite the entire script off the top of your head and have tried to learn the coveted handshake. Watching this movie will remind why you begged your mom to go to summer camp and spent your childhood convinced that you too had a fabulous, European sister out there.
7. "Legally Blonde"
Another movie about a strong girl proving herself to the world all while
maintaining her bubbly and quirky personality. Who needs a law-school
fiancé when you can get a degree of your own? This movie is sure to
make you regret not applying to Harvard. This movie also taught me the
most important life lesson I’ve ever learned: when in doubt, bend and
snap.
8. "Sleepover"
You were always jealous of this party for the books, and perplexed by the idea that 14-year-olds were able to get into a club, drive a car, and steal a boy’s boxers, but this sweet movie was constantly a slumber party favorite. Even though my middle school days are long over, I hold out hope for a moment similar to when Julie was called on stage by her adorable high school crush.
9. "A Cinderella Story"
While the use of AIM and flip phones in this movie, along with the
obnoxious step-sisters and mothers, may make you cringe, this adorable
retelling of a classic fairy tale can keep all of us hoping for a secret
Prince Charming. Let’s just hope he’s not a catfish.
10. "The Princess Diaries" (Original or Sequel)
This movie convinced me that I was (and still am) the princess of an obscure country. While you wait for your "Sound of Music" star grandmother to tell you about your royal heritage, you can still recreate the famous and mattress-surfing scenes.
11. "Aquamarine"
How a mermaid managed to have flawless, not frizzy curls and fashion a trendy dress out of a shirt still amazes me and keeps me coming back to watching "Aquamarine" whenever I feel as though my life would be better with friend I could summon from the ocean with a wish and a storm.
12. "The Lizzie McGuire Movie"
Rounding out the list with a second Hilary Duff movie is the one that made you scream about What Dreams are Made. This movie, while being on of the most historically important things to ever happen to Italy, is a classic sure to keep you hoping that Lizzie Gordo end up with each other and Paulo got what was coming to him.
