LET'S GO HOKIES! Tucked away in southeastern Virginia, Blacksburg is the home of Virginia Tech Hokies. 30,598 Hokies enrolled, VT is truly a community in which only us understand some of the traditions and values we uphold.
1. We expereince weather with all four seasons wrapped up in one week.
It snowed two and a half inches on Saturday, and then was 60 degrees the following Wednesday?!? What is up with you, Blacksburg? Hokies have an easy adjustment when they come back from break to bring a parka and snow boots but also remember to bring short sleeve shirts and capris.
2. Gucci and Ghetto Kroger.
What's it going to be? Are we going to the gucci Kroger on South Main Street or Ghetto Kroger at the University Mall?
3. The Qdoba line at noon, 2 p.m., and then again at 6 p.m.
Whenever I walk into Turners Place at the above times, it seems like I'm walking into the wild jungle and about to embark on a journey through the wild. "PUSH!" My friend says as we race to the Qdoba line in the back, only to realize we've been in the Qdoba since we walked into Turners.
4. The D2 "Dash" is so real.
Brunch on Sunday mornings or just grab a lunch or dinner at D2, anyone who eats there can testify that immediately after you have to run to the bathroom. I can personally testify and say that D2 does in fact give you a nasty stomachache and can end badly.
5. We are #blessed with all of those concerts.
Brad Paisley, DIPLO, Waka Flocka, Hunter Hayes, Parachute...the list goes on. Every semester there is always new coming and sometimes it's free. I can't wait to see who's next (hopefully Luke Bryan).
6. You've spent countless hours driving around Virginia Tech parking lots trying to find a spot.
And if someone is walking back to their car, you can bet that I'm going to follow you to your car to take your parking spot.
7. This school has been under construction since 1872.
It seems that Virginia Tech is always either building or renovating something, so you see construction workers and equipment on certain spots all over campus. How long have they been working on the cadet dorm?
8. El Rods is the place to be for margs and queso.
Wait, gucci or ghetto El Rods tonight? You can catch me at El Rods every time me and my friends want to go out to dinner. I'm the one eating chips and queso with a spoon. There are two El Rods locations. The "ghetto" El Rods is better in my opinion, TBH.
9. Center Street is always lit on a home football game.
Walk down Center Street on a home football game and almost every apartment is packed with maroon and orange bodies. You can even see them get hype here.
10. Two words: Duck Pond.
It's romantic and also actually a place for dates and also a cute spot to take pictures. It's placed next to Solitude, one of the oldest buildings on campus and dated back to when Virginia Tech was actually named Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College in 1872.
11. Taking head shots and Instagram artsy pictures at the Inn at Virginia Tech is the thing to do.
OMG, it seems that everyone who went to Ring Premiere Dance went to the Inn at VT to take pictures to get an artsy Instagram picture. It's customary for Hokies to take their headshots there too, you know, for LinkedIn.
12. You love the VT Squirrel
If you don't know who this is, then do you really go to Virginia Tech?
