12 Bible Verses For Worriers

Even though I know I live a wonderful, blessed life sometimes life gets a little too hard, and I become weak enough to let fear consume me. I find myself being controlled by my worries; they affect how I see the world, how I see others, but most importantly, how I see myself. I have accepted and acknowledged that I will always be a worrier, and I will never be completely worry-free. I have learned to cope with my anxiety, and I have learned that putting my faith in God is the only way I can feel at ease, and forget some of my worries. Reading Bible verses has always comforted me, as they remind me that God is always there.

1. Romans 8:18 "I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us."

2. Luke 12:25-26 " Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?"

3. Proverbs 12:25 "Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up."

4. 1 Peter 5:6-7 "Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."

5. Philippians 4:13 "I can do all this through Him who gives me strength."

6. Jeremiah 29:11 "'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'"

7. Psalm 56:3 "When I am afraid, I put my trust in you."

8. 1 John 4:18 "There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love."

9. Isaiah 35:4 "Tell everyone who is discouraged, Be strong and don’t be afraid! God is coming to your rescue…"

10. Psalm 55:22 "Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall."

11. 1 Peter 3:14 "But even if you suffer for doing what is right, God will reward you for it. So don’t worry or be afraid of their threats."

12. Proverbs 29:25 "Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe"

Next time you find yourself worrying--whether it is a rational or irrational fear--focus on your faith. Read one, or all, of these verses. Remind yourself that God will always guide you, and He will never give you something you can not handle.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
